Title: I'm tired
Post by: -gg- on June 21, 2022, 10:20:09 AM
Like all the time.

I wake up and still feel tired. when I get home from work I have about an hour before I'm so tired I have to go to bed. And this is usually at about 7:30 or 8:00..

So many things I like to do that I want to do and plan to do when I get home and I don't have to energy to do it. I'm currently mixing songs that I've recorded and I'm almost done with one of them but I basically have to wait till the weekend comes before I have the energy to work on them.

I guess that comes with age? Or is that not normal?

I'm 57 years old. I work pretty hard during the day though. I do get up early. I get up at 5:00 a.m. and then from then on I pretty much am working until I get home.

Sometimes I'm in a physically exhausting environment. Like a very hot human environment and all day on my feet repairing a massive printer. Maybe get ink under my fingernails and all over my hands. I don't know if that's part of it.

Tired all the time.

Sounds like your job is tiring. Perhaps look for a new one? The # one way to higher energy is sleep, Cardio, and no smoking/drinking. Go for a run when you get home. Yeah it sucks, but it only takes <10 min, but you will actually feel alive after. Don't fall for the "I need more sugar" trap.

Thanks.

I do eat healthy and I don't eat sugar. I don't even eat foods that have sugar in them or even processed foods. I think I'm pretty healthy.

I think you're right about cardio though. That's the last thing I can even imagine doing when I get home though right then on my feet all day.

Lol. I do tend to be lazy!

I'm in good shape. I weigh a hundred and fifty pounds and I'm pretty active. My job is just nothing but working all day. I get up at 5:00 a.m. again on the weekends but if I'm off and I get up at 5:00 I'll usually make breakfast and coffee and then I'll delete that all around the house and then I'll go take a nap. Lol!

Sounds like stress to me.  Stress is cumulative and your mind can't differentiate between physical stress and mental/emotional stress.  You have to do something to fight stress every day.  But stress relief is generally extremely unique, meaning that what I do to relieve stress might work for you or it might not.  Good luck with it.

Back in the day my then boss once was bitten by the Wheel of Energy bug. Simply put, your total energy can be described as a circle which is divided into three segments: Work, leisure/hobbies and rest. For optimal energy the three should be balanced. If one segment is bigger than the other two, the weight of it will stop the wheel from spinning.

Dehydration is another issue. A hot environment, thick/dark clothes (sunshine on a breezy day in spring), efficient ventilation (aeroplanes) all can dry yourself without you noticing. Caffeine is a diuretic so coffee or coke can make things worse. Some common vegetables like watermelons and tomatoes also remove fluids from your system - handy if you have swollen ankles but not so much if you're already dry as a raisin. Excessive drinking of plain water (a gallon a day) can also be an issue as it can change your salt balance. Even more so if you sweat a lot.

Multiple good ones on the White Album. I miss the vinyl that was destroyed from heat in the attic when I was on active duty.

I happen to have 2 copies,1 is an original pressing and the second is a rerelease that I recorded then put away. Oh and I almost forgot I have the CD also. I’m missing the first album and revolver, had revolver but it went missing long ago and only have it on CD.

Mine was a rerelease purchased in `78. I was very much a retro Beatles, Stones, Doors, CSN(and Y), The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield fan in high school. Of course, I also listened to all the popular singers and groups in the late 70s.

I didn't delve into Zappa, Guthrie, The Mommas and the Pappas, Croce or a lot of others until I was on active duty. And my love of sixties and seventies folk and rock just expanded from there.

Have you heard the Giles Martin remix I think it was 2018? It is incredible. Some songs on the white album, like long long, long, sound 100% better. There's more depth to the songs and yet they don't sound like they're different mixes.
They did a great job on that the whole album remix.

I don't usually work a lot of hours. Pretty much an 8-hour day. And I have a pretty sweet job. I actually love the job. I'm pretty much on my own out in the field. Today I'm in the office. Just some of the environments can be hard but not all of them are.

I drink a lot of water. So much so that I think I sometimes drink too much water. And I don't drink sodas or anything like that. I have healthy snacks with me during the day like I'll have a banana and some peanuts or something like that.

My work life balance does seem skewed though because I think I just don't have energy when I get home to do anything. Like I will get up at 5:00 a.m. and usually make breakfast and get ready for work. I'll be at work by 8:00 and then I'll work and come home usually by 6:00 p.m. . And then when I get home and I finally get a chance to sit down or whatever, I feel like I'm just zonked out at that point. Like I don't have the energy to do the things that I thought I was going to do during the day. Like I will plan to make time for a guitar part or something like that and then I just can't do it when it comes time to getting home. I'm just exhausted.

So I'll go to bed and I'll read a little bit while I'm in bed or maybe look at the internet a little bit. And then I'm zonked out. Only to wake up the next day to do it all the same again.

I don't eat caffeine or drink caffeine. In the morning I make a pretty large cup of coffee though. I hand grind my coffee in a makeup cup of coffee that's maybe 20 oz? I put one teaspoon of sugar in it and some real cream. And that's it for the caffeine.

8 Oz of regular coffee = 96 mg of caffeine
12 Oz of regular coffee = 144 mg of caffeine
16 Oz of regular coffee = 192 mg of caffeine
20 Oz of regular coffee = 240 mg of caffeine

Yes! I have some of it on a portable HD,should have downloaded the whole thing but didn’t.

I find it depends on what you play it through, the old Altec Lansing comp speakers just aren’t up to the job,one of these days I’ll run it through my amp and good speakers. Then I can compare it to vinyl ,cd and off the comp.

I just like the fact I can turn on the comp and have endless hours of music and don’t have to flip an album or change a cd. I’m not always in the room where the music comes from.

Yes it and revolver are the only ones I don’t have on vinyl but I do have all the songs on their anthology set in vinyl.

Had a birthday not long ago any my son got me a new remixed copy of dark side of the moon, only opened it to get rid off wrapping and sleeve,it won’t be played until someone else get their hands on it.

I will still listen to certain songs on the white album to compare mixes. To me, the white album has a really organic feel to it. I love the way they recorded everything on that album. And the Giles Martin remix sounds incredible. So it's got deeper bass and more clarity. A lot more depth and almost three-dimensional.

I can listen to that album. The whole thing straight through and I often do that. There's only a couple of songs on there that I will fast forward. I don't like why don't we do it in the road and I don't like that Ringo song don't pass me by. I almost can't listen to that one. Lol. Other than that I will listen to that album straight through both sides both albums

Thanks for clarifying.

The Circle of Energy thing isn't about the time spent, it's more about quality. So although you love your job your spare time activities should be something entirely different so that you can turn your work mode off. They also should have some variation - a scheduled daily hobby is actually just another job which would double the "work" segment. I like tinkering with computer so I made it my job. Occasionally I take a customer's computer home with me and spend the night fixing it. Sometimes I try to help people on this forum. Those are both OK but not on a daily basis. Yesterday after work I chopped and piled some firewood before helping cooking the dinner, then I read some and watched some TV with my wife. A balanced day...

If you're worried about drinking too much water that may be an issue. One should drink only when thirsty, although like I mentioned there's situations when you don't notice being dehydrated. They say that a couple of litres/½ gallon a day should normally suffice unless the environment makes you lose moisture. Excess water can dilute your mineral balance so if you really need to drink more than average you should get some mineral water alongside with plain water. Sweat is salty and so is pee so if you water your system down you may flush more minerals out than what you get from your food.

I don't think the issue is that I would have a poor work life balance. I'm not one of these people that all I do is think about work. Work is just something I do to make an income.

I have a lot of hobbies. Music is my number one hobby.

The issue is that I don't have the energy to do what I want to do when I get home. It's not like I can't shut work off or something like that. I don't even think about work when I'm not at work.

As I'm thinking More about this I'm wondering if I'm having issues sleeping at night or something. Like maybe sleep apnea or something that's robbing me of a good night sleep. I get plenty of hours of sleep and I don't remember really waking up at night.

But even right now. I woke up around 4:30 this morning because there's a big thunderstorm. Really low rumbling thunder. Rattling the house kind of thunder. But I'm tired! Like right now I've been up and brushed my teeth and I'm going to make coffee in a minute. And I'm tired. I could just go right back to bed right now.

I don't suppose you've seen a doctor?  Surely you're not using the group of internet experts and dog fetlers in the O Club as an HMO.  See a doctor.

He way not tell you what you want to hear and he may not find any cause for your fatigue, but that's one of those 'rule this out first' programs.

Once, about 12-13 years ago I went to my doctor and said, "I'm itching all over.  We haven't change laundry soap, we haven't changed bath soap, no changes that I'm aware of, no change in diet, it's just that I itch all over."  His diagnosis, "You have the itch."  I used a ton of hydrocortisone and eventually I quite itching.

Stay away from WebMD.  At WebMD you can go from 'persistent cough' to 'imminent death' in three mouse clicks.

I have not seen a doctor about it. Maybe I should. I'm not really here for advice, but more so to see if you guys think this is normal. I've lived with this a ling time and to me it seems normal - but I remember having a lot of energy. That was when I was younger though.

Assuming no health issues.  Daily exercise is the biggest thing you can do.  Everybody should be doing it.  Helps both physically and mentally.   A little kratom as a boost helps get you going to exercise too if you need it.  ;)

This morning it's raining and there was really awesome thunder. It's very rare to get thunder over here where I live. I've only heard it a few times in 14 years. But it was deep low rumbling.

Case in point.

Up at 4.30 am

Installed a new printer today. Hot and humid warehouse. 8.30 - 4pm straight through, then a 30 minute drive home.

It's 5.55pm and I got home from the grocery about 15 minutes ago.

Tore off my hot clothes, washed my pretty face, and put a t-shirt on.

Put the groceries away and made a yogurt/strawberry/chia seeds/oatmeal snack. I'm sitting at my desk eating and I feel exhausted. I'll be in bed within 30 minutes

I wake up around 12, normally stay up late playing ah or watching videos on youtube.  take a shower and look at the mirror and tell myself, i can go another day without shaving.  eat breakfast around 1, go to the local watering hole and have a couple of beers, then I realize it smells like crap in here, then realize it's me.  so I tell the bartender, I'll be back, walk out without paying my tab.  go home, shower and change again, have a snack and go back. that's my routine.  cant wait to have my back surgery.  that's my routine every day. went back on lithium a couple of weeks ago.  hope it helps.  and yeah, i am tired all the time, even though i do nothing.  but that's life

If that's your normal day, what and when do you actually eat? Your snack sounds like half of my breakfast without beverages and bread. They say that one should eat five meals a day (breakfast-lunch-snack-dinner-snack) but I've accustomed to not to eat during working hours. In the summer I need something to drink during the day, though, or I'll slumber. That's not funny when you're driving...

If you feel something changed - and looks like changed indeed - go to see a doctor. There are too many warn signs - so do some checkups. If it is just age, maybe Ok, but if not, its better to be safe than sorry later.

Some of us are in the medical profession…

Chronic fatigue is quite different than being tired. Sleep apnea or other sleep disturbances is certainly worth mentioning, but any decent GP will want a full picture SBAR well before drawing conclusions.

Hope you get it figured out. I can relate, it’s not any fun!

After some thought I’m not sure it’s the Martin remix,it’s a remix of the white album just not sure who did it.

I’d have do some searching on the net to find it again but I’m to tired to bother…… :devil

what I am trying to tell you gina is be greateful for what you have.  you know what I would do go be able to work.  same as like my best friend who's been in a wheelchair since 17 and told me to stop being a pus@@, because he wished he could walk even with the pain I have.  there's always somebody else worse than you are.

so find a place or a way to feel better. if it means switching work or I dont know do yoga. do it.  find a way to make you feel better.

Thanks, semp.

You're one hundred percent correct in that people should count their blessings. I do thank God nearly every day for my health, my job and everything else in my life. My family,my friends.

I'm very grateful and blessed.

I want to thank all of you for the advise and the time you've taken to respond.

I now have an appointment with my doctor and am going to have bloodwork done.

Hope all turns out well.

I'm going to have some blood work done. I've never even been close to being pre-diabetic though. My blood work always comes back normal. Last time I had blood focus about a year ago.

I have a feeling that maybe I'm just having my sleep interrupted. I don't know we'll see

Little bit of a long day today, but now I'm home and it's Friday!

I made a cup of coffee and I think I'm going to write a new song in a few minutes.

I feel good!

thanks, Coogn

I came up with the into and verse so far. It has horns, piano, bass, some backward keys and acoustic guitar. Also have a vocal melody and some lyric ideas. I'll probably be able to post something tomorrow

It kind of has a Mean Mr Mustard vibe to it.

I'm fairly certain that the Banana Splits were never on Happy Days. But then, you may well be more versed in such.  :)
