If anyone joins either forum, pm me here or contact me via those forums' contact form so I know to approve the account.
I approved a couple today that had been sitting for three days - and that's just because I don't check in that often.
The reason for the approval process is simply to weed out all the bot that try to join.'
FW is not what you think. A lot of people here would enjoy it there, I think.
ICOM is more of the same - just that I won't allow personal attacks or pointless arguing. Still very lose though - I have a veruy hands-off approach and I'll just ask people to stop if I think something goes too far.
Either place, you are completely safe from any bias in moderation. You will be on your own and will have to defend what you say with other people that may not agree with you - but you will not be moderated for anything other than the 3 or 4 very basic rules.
