Title: Virpil Controls
Post by: Elfie on September 10, 2022, 12:37:40 AM
I can't get the axis mapped properly, that includes throttle, pitch and yaw, and can't tell yet if the rudder pedals are mapped correctly.

I have no idea how to get the functions mapped to the correct buttons. For instance, I want "Fire All Weapons" on the first stage of my trigger. The problem with that is there doesn't seem to be a way to select the function and then tell it which button to go to by depressing it. Why is that important? Because I have NO idea what number is assigned to the trigger by the game.

It'd be fine if I knew which numbers were assigned to which buttons but as it stands all I can see to do is systematically map the fire weapons command to numbered buttons until I find the trigger, and then do that for every other command. You know what I have to say to that? No thank you.

If there's another way to do this then I'd love to hear it.

I finally saw how to see which button is which number, completely by accident. heh

When you are in control mapping if you double tap a button it will highlight that button in the list. Also, usually the trigger is button 0. The analog axis will have a numeric value next to them on the mapping list. That numeric value should change when you move the assigned axis.

If you need some more in depth assistance with the mapping of your controls I can meet up with you in the TA.

My trigger is #3 of 30 buttons on the stick, the throttle has 78 buttons plus multiple axis that aren't the throttles themselves.

What I discovered is that if you physically press a button it lights up in the list but I have to scroll through the list because I can't see the entire list at once on either piece of equipment.

Majority of games all you do is select a game command and then press the button where you want it mapped. Easiest system out there.

I have a VKB MCG-Pro grip and I have a similar "problem". It's just as complicated to set up. I have several axii on the grip itself and I have them set up for things like trim or zoom. The commands to set those up along an axis travel, low, midpoint and high, are at the bottom of the list. You have to scroll all the way down to find them. Find them and operate the axis you want to map. You'll see those points light up as you pass through them. Double click the point you want and assign a command. Make sure you've calibrated the axii first, in my case with the VKB software, and then in AH.

I wondered what was up with all the axis commands at the bottom of the list, thanks.

Elfie, I'm curious what Virpil grip you are using? I'm using the Mongoos T-50cm2, and the flip down trigger is #3, first stage on the trigger is #0, second stage is #1.

Yeah AH mapping is pretty cool like that. I can do the same thing in the VKB software and map the key command to a range point on the axis but it's a lot more complicated. I'm still waiting around for VKB to come out with their throttle which I'm starting to think is vaporware. Might have to get the Virpil and just deal with learning two complicated softwares.
