There's a chance for some of you to get in on the ground floor during the ramp up and deployment of a new squadron in Aces High.
"The Watched" will be a strictly regimented and disciplined unit comprised of crack pilots and officers. The Watched will take wing and begin official operations soon.
The last unit I was involved with was the Elite Top Aces Plus One Mexican. We were all generals and we ran a tight ship. This time will be much the same. I will be taking requests here and in game.
You will need to provide computer specs, estimated flight hours in game and you must have a K/D ratio of over 9/1. You will also be required to provide the login information to all of your social media accounts so that we can perform a background check - and maybe make a few posts under your name now and then, as determined or required by squad ops.
So good luck!
:airplane:
-
oh, almost forgot.
No ham!
-
What does it pay ?
-
This is outrageous! I'm shocked and offended! Could I get a courtesy trigger warning in the title, for crying out loud??
-
okay, recruits!
I am connecting my flight apparatuses and will be entering theater shortly. I'll probably warm up with just a 15 to 1 kill ratio for now.
-
Also, you need three references from reputable squads, and verified 15 years hard experience just to secure an initial interview and background check. :salute
This isn't a squad for ham and eggers and red necks who need to step it up a notch.
-
Lol. Yes!
And you have to send it a picture of you wearing your uniform. We always fly in uniform!
I am in game! Or in the theater of operations as we say
-
Well, I've been in theater for over an hour. Maybe more. It doesn't seem that anyone is lining up to join the squad. So I'm going to offer an incentive.
For new recruits you will not have to wear your uniform on Tuesdays if you join today.
-
It would seem there are still "supply chain issues" with fit-of-age fighting men. A sorry state of affairs indeed.
-
I have to admit that today was a bloody day in the arena. I was killed more than I killed, but this is a virtual engagement. I'm still actually very awesome and will have a 16:1 kill ratio whenever I decide such. This was only a special operation.
So I hope new recruits will not look at my virtual performance and apply that to my real potential.
I did come home with a couple of washing machines.
-
"The Watched"
Good name choice.
strictly regimented and disciplined unit
What are the chances :)
-
I recommend that The Watched fly in the October Scenario "Operation Husky".
It's what a top squad would do! :aok

Back when I flew more in the MA, there was a guy on Elite Top Aces Plus One Mexican who was the one Mexican and who I used to fight from time to time. He was quite good. I'm trying to remember the name. Was it cmex?

NAH! Think it was AKAK, at least his Avatar was a Mexican in Officer's Uniform. 2CMEX was Anti-Hoard in 2013 when I started. I think? 9 YEARS AGO? Holy Crap...now dont that explain some recent issues? OLD AS F, I am :rofl

Is bathing required?

On this board for over 20 years and never knew my watched status until 6 months ago...
Not sure if its new on this bbs but it's interesting to watch it go up and down based on someones interpretation of what you post..

I have never seen it.... so would not know.

Yes, it was AKAK. LOL. He even has a linked in page with his squad bio. Haha. He was also the squad gardener.

I had a great time flying last night! It's been a couple of months. I have to tell you honestly, I suck and I've always sucked. Lol!
The elite top aces plus one Mexican was just a couple of us. Maybe four or something like that? Drediock, AKAK, slamfire, myself, maybe sluggish? I forget. But it was a fun little squad. I mostly flew with AKAK and dred because those were usually the only people in our squad that were on regularly.
AKAK is really good. He's a fun guy to talk with on vox too. He's like an aces high historian. In fact he's studying to get a master's in history. He's really good at recalling names and events throughout aces high history. He has some great stories and he just remembers all these details and players and their names and everything.
I hope he comes back and maybe we can reform the squad!
I'll be jumping into the arena here in about 20 minutes. You guys I'm totally kidding when I'm saying that I've got a great kill ratio. Lol I have always totally sucked.
But even after all this time I still have a good time when I log in.

Great, you're gonna attract the Judge and the other Dora/Pony BnZing scum. Lovely. Hard pass. I'd rather fly solo than deal with that.
I for one, don't respect a simulator pilot for an extremely high K/D. I respect them for the planes they fly. Maineac scores very high on my respect list as he's the most active Mosquito dogfighter with over 120 kills this tour in it.
Don't get me wrong, I fly super planes too sometimes, usually the Spit 16, but almost always to defend a vulched/WF base. Yesterday I upped a single Spit16 into 3 bogeys to defend our white flagged town. The entire fight was fought under 200 mph, and I had to kick out my Spitfire flaps to nail these Ponys and Corsairs.
I love fighting from the bottom up in a Spit 16, but I love the Mosquito way more. It's the first plane I've hit a 2:1 K/D ratio with.
-
I like the fact that anonymous forces choose winners and losers. It's exciting!

Yep, I think are correct -- AKAK.

It was AKAK.

Have to disagree with you on the Judge there Tig. After getting beat daily by him I switched to bish to see how he actually flys besides the films of me getting beat. He gets down and dirty quite a bit. Spends time in a 109 also. Thing is he KNOWS a D9 backwords and forwards and is an amazing shot. His squadie Silent is just as good.
Any time I'm on, I look for them. The figbt will be there.
-
Well I am a dumb arse. I forgot that I already have a squad. The Wrong Stuff. 😅
-
There is a great book "The Wrong Stuff: The Adventures and Misadventures of an 8th Air Force Aviator" by Truman Smith.
Really excellent.

incorrect
-
why is it always the AH "staff" guys?
You'd think that representing AH that they would be held to a higher standard. Maybe encourage people that play the game? All I ever see out of these guys is stuff like this.
I do have a squad and I do play the game. I started in 2001 and have played off and on for MANY years.
-
Anyway. Had a good time today in the game.
I still suck, but I always did. I think that the skill level of the average player is very, very high compared to back in the day. There's not as many people but they all seem to be really good.
-

No he doesn't. Only with numerical advantage or ack do you find him down there. He's an opportunistic picker and runner who has prioritised risk-assesment and score instead of ACM and further benefits from a laggy connection for front-quarter shots. He flies the G14 because of ENY and players who primarily pick are often good shots.
Effective and skilful are two different things. One of those is good for the general experience of the game. The other takes from it selfishly.

Excellent hoer..takes one to know one

I'm not sure what your point was, Spikes.
look at the join date of everyone in this thread. The people I actually know; Sparky, BJ22, Slamfire. I know Sparky has an account. No one has been banned from the forum that I know of. I was banned in 2008. I came back in 2019 and I emailed Dale to let him know it was me (nuke) to be open about it.
This thread is not a troll.
maybe go do some AH Staff CM stuff instead of disparaging people.

I checked the links out and you put a lot of work into it. I might try to show up as a walk-on. I've never played a scenario. I'll probably screw something up.

Just letting a newer member of the game who thinks that this thread is serious that it is in fact not serious. :)
-
it is serious. It was presented in what is known as humor.
You are incorrect in everything you said.

Hmm, alright. In that case will you be removing yourself from the squad as you don't possess a 9/1 K/D? :)
-
Back to the topic.
I spoke with Slamfire last night and he's looking to repair his rudders and get back into the game. We used to have an annual FW Holiday Visit.
I still have one of our stickers on my fridge. One year I sent out patches. Several people still have them.
(https://i.ibb.co/KWgnhJP/fw.jpg) (https://ibb.co/BBJk39p)
We have a lot of fun.
The squad name is currently The Wrong Stuff. I forgot that it was still active. Anyone can join. We fly around disorganized and have fun chatting on vox and doing fun stuff.

It's impossible to screw things up. :aok
As long as you are having fun, it is a great success. :aok

You in this new squad Sparky?

I am? Are you?
-
Were both of those questions?

Come on Arlow... If you keep making posts like that people are going to start thinking you're just a troll...
But.. in case you were serious...
question mark
noun
1
a
: something unknown, unknowable, or uncertain
b
: someone (such as an athlete) whose condition, talent, or potential for success is in doubt
2
: a mark ? used in writing and printing at the conclusion of a sentence to indicate a direct question

I don't think he's a troll. I think he is sharing with you his superior knowledge of grammar and language.
Are you?
Is this rhetorical?
-
Not a troll, just the forum busybody.
-
Were you born without a sense of humor or did you have yours surgically removed?
Is it serious or humorous now? I am confused.
-
The squad is real in the invitation is real. I presented it in a humorous fashion. We don't have any rules but we joke about all these hardcore rules. You know those kind of squads? Well we are not that. Lol. Light-hearted and fun.
-

nrshida now I'm the first to say I'm not the best pilot out there. I'm getting better but still have a long way to go. Nothing better for me as a good one on one. I've had quite a few one on ones with the judge. he hunts as I do. Many in a Yak co alt with him. Quite a few when I had the altitude and the smash. In all with the exception of a tie, I have died. My thing is I really like fighting the pilots that own me. Why ? Because of the challenge and to learn from films how I was defeated. Through those films that show speed of the opponent I see how they manage that in a fight. Learn the moves. There is a lot to learn from pilots that have mastered a ride, whether it is a Dora, a 109, Corsair, 47.
The Dora interests me because I suck in it. You can't turn for any length of time. It bleeds terribly if you do. Sort of a one trick pony. It's fast, great roll rate, good guns but for me it's one pass and out cuz my gunnery sucks. I like to learn, and the Dora is one along with the Corsair and 47 that I would love to be proficient in.
Flying Bish I have learned that with him, it's pretty much people hating to be killed by him. Not because he cheats, not because he doesn't mix it up. It is because he's good and getting owned pisses people off.
If I get owned, and there is quite a few that do own me. I have a list. :D I don't get pissed. I endeavor to learn why I lost and learn from it.
Going back to the February tour through the August tour the Judge has killed me ninety four times.
Lol I think it would be to my benefit to learn why...
Now back to topic :D
-
Not a troll, just the forum busybody.
You've no reason to whine. I think you're just stuck.
-
My favorite thing to do is to get in a turning plane and get into a massive fur ball. Like the kind they used to have over CVs.
That kind of flying doesn't happen much anymore if at all. These days it's hard to be in a slow turn fighter when everybody else is usually in a faster plane working in at least pairs.
I don't like to climb I usually go into some place pretty low and I don't mind if people are above me. So I've been flying the Dora, yaks, P-51, in corsairs so far this time.
The world war I arena is a lot of fun. That's my favorite thing when there's people in there. Just straight turn fighting and dog fighting. That's my favorite thing. But like I said, that doesn't happen much in the main arena anymore. People fly very smart.
-
Arlo, you're just like a gadfly. You don't offer anything but negativity. You pop into these threads with your one line complaints or whatever it is you call what you do.
I don't really complain about anything. Just pointing it out is not complaining.
So you go on doung what you do Arlo. I guess you're one of the pillars of the community.
-
Relax. I'm on your mind way too much. :)
-
The only time you're on my mind is when I see you comment directly in my thread. I think that you might need to be the one that should relax a little bit? Maybe think of something positive to say or go into another thread where you can have a positive contribution?
-
I simply asked sparky if he meant his response to be two questions on his part. Your reaction is kinda mysterious even if repetitive. Have a good day. :old:

Clarity is a wonderful thing. :)
-
Are Low.. You're never clear about anything. You swoop into threads just to snipe and troll. Maybe you think you're "spicing it up"? Or maybe you think your inability to have a discussion without a hijack attempt or you inability to give a straight answer gives you the appearance of being hip and edgy?
(it doesn't)
-
Clarity with merit is even better. :)
-
It would present a useful way to argue about stuff and not get banned from the forum
-
Going to up in a few minutes. I fly Rook. Feel free to say hello on vox.
-
Are Low...
Good promotion for the new squad. Hope you get the attention you are seeking :rock
-
I went to my dad's shop this morning and I'm here now. I went into my old office and it's exactly as I left it several years ago.
I found a couple of these squad patches that I had made. I mean I haven't been in that office in a few years. So I snagged these things

Thank you. By the way, the squad name is a joke. That was really the squad name. Elite top aces plus one Mexican, but the one Mexican part wouldn't fit on the patch. Hahaha.
It was a real squad and everything but the name was just meant to be funny.
-
Yes, it was AKAK. LOL. He even has a linked in page with his squad bio. Haha. He was also the squad gardener.

Did not see you folks in frame 1 of Operation Husky. :cry
Come on in for frame 2. :aok
