Who thought it was a good idea to name hurricanes after Sameless characters?

Just pulled out the generators and will be tightening up the property over the next 48hrs

Stay safe all in its path

Ever since I bought my Generac 24kw whole home generator, the power has not dropped once. Funny how that happens.

Good luck with the storm. I deal with power outages every time we get severe storms  here in Ohio.

When power goes out my backup generator is the only thing that keeps my basement from flooding.

Shuffler...my wife keeps telling me to get a generator to back up our home when power fails.

Another thread perhaps, but how do you like your Generac system?

A long time ago, during my first marriage, I had a Chihuahua named Steve. He's dead now. The bad news is that his remaining owner isn't.

There is nothing unusual about the hurricane. Hurricanes happen and they have always happened. They're not getting more powerful or more frequent.

This one happens to be headed for Tampa, which is an extremely low lying area and they've dodged hurricanes for 100 years. That's the only thing unusual about it. Where it's tracking.

Nothing unusual except it is 2 very strong hurricanes back to back.

Shameless yes

Ian was the younger gay brother that became gay Jesus in the series

New track has it up the mouth of Tampa Bay ...what has been feared since we moved to central Florida in 83 from NE Florida

Not our first but this is now routed as a cat 2 right over the house Wednesday night

Stay safe.

A year ago I was ready to retire. Wanted out of California for a multitude of reasons and shopped around for a place to live. Looked at the south, but everywhere I looked there it was either hurricanes or houses in flood plains with the humidity. Looking midwest it was tornados..

Didn't want to be where it snowed so ended up in southern Nevada.

I hope everyone here in Florida dodges the bullet down there.

The biggest danger I face here is if the A/C stops working..    :aok

I've worked most of the hurricanes that have hit the southern US in the last 25 years.

Any hurricane that strikes a populated area is bad.

Right now Florida has an estimated 30,000 linemen and support personnel staged for this storm. I'm in a stand-by cycle to travel after the damage has been initially assessed.

Its not gonna be good, but it may not be as bad as media and doomsayers want it to be. I've traveled for hurricanes that were nowhere near as bad as the media hyped them up to be.

I'll tip you nicely if you can get my power back on in less than the two weeks it took after Charley.  We went about five weeks total (three storms right over us) without power  that season.

Sanibel Island is now stranded as the toll causeway washed away...it is the wife and I best get away out of all Florida beaches..

Ft Myers is toast

It took about the same path as Charlie but was much more powerful and massive

It was not the greatest of videos, just of my screen starting to go and shingles flying off my neighbors roof. All in all my neighborhood got lucky. Never lost power, just cellular communications. Even my dad’s townhouse in placida which took the eye came off reasonably unscathed. No flooding or surge damage, just some exterior damage. Which is amazing because the unit backs directly out onto a canal.

You're not kidding.  The timing of that cold front could not have been better.  We're usually sweating our arses off for days after a hurricane.  I was told we're up to over 50% with power here in Polk.

We just got our power back at 6:10am this morning in Lithia, Fl. The weather the last couple days has been amazing but I'm glad to have my A/C back. I feel terrible for the Ft. Myers area. So sad to see the devastation. We were supposed to take the boat down to Cape Coral for spring break in a few months but I don't see that happening now. I can't imagine the area will be even remotely recovered by then.

After Andrew in 1992, it became nearly impossible to buy homeowners insurance in the Miami area, so the idjit state government decided to assume the risk and sell the insurance. I forget who, but some smart governor realized what a taxpayer catastrophe it would be had yet another Andrew hit and squashed that practice
