Most people are aware of the old standards in this category: the memoirs of von Manstein, von Mellenthin, and Guderian, as well as numerous German historians on the subject. Well, if you want to balance out that strictly German opinion I suggest the following:
- When Titans Clashed by Glantz
- Russia at War by Alexander Werth
- Red Phoenix by Hardesty
- The Black Cross/Red Star volumes by Bergstrom & Mikhailov
- Stalin's Eagles by Seidl
- Battle of Kursk by Glantz
A good source of material of this sort is obtainable through Frank Cass Publishers in England. They also have a USA distributor in Oregon as well. If you know what you're looking for, www.abebooks.com (http://www.abebooks.com) is a great place to locate and purchase a book. It contains the inventories of numerous independent bookstores worldwide, and is most likely the place where Amazon.com goes to find OOP books :)
There are many other books out there that use Soviet/German archival material, but this should do as a beginning set :)
