Title: I survived Ian
Post by: Popeye44 on October 18, 2022, 03:53:10 PM
Went through the eye...150 mph winds. Took 11 days to get power and just now internet.
Lots of damage but compared to others...very lucky.
Wind...drive your car at 75 and put your hand out...then double it!
But I'm back   :old:

Glad you made it through OK. Odd on this on that I have not seen any official high winds over about 100. Usually you see reports all over after a storm from official guages..

Sanibel is gone

Used to take the wife to an old Florida motel/ cottage paradise there called Shalimar end of May for snook fishing for years..

Its part of the beach now

Glad you guys made it with minimal loss

i was down there last week visiting the GF in Cape Coral (NW). her neighbor stayed and clocked the same speeds, but she bailed east for a bit.  Very lucky as well, once she got power and water back, the rest was 1st world problem damage (fence, some roof and the pool cage). Glad you did well... the construction there on the newer houses is pretty impressive, taking all that wind and roofs staying fairly intact.  More impressive is the speed they got power and the bridges back up on Pine and Sanibel Islands. Hope the rest of your recovery is smooth.
