Guys, you all know me, I've been in here a long time and not much in this game upsets me, but this side switching thing for points certainly does. Maybe it's because I was in the military for 24 years and know what it is to count on the people on your team, but I like knowing that I'm a part of a team and the guy fighting beside me has my back. It's not about winning or losing and especially not about points for me, I fully accept that some days we are the windshield and some days we are the bug, but I prefer winning or losing as a team and take it as a kick in the nuts to get killed by the guy that was just fighting on my team right next to me earlier. It's even worse when it's a team mate that I've been fighting beside for years.
I think a very big part of this for me is the fact that I get attached to the guys fighting next to me as a team day in and day out for years and I can't help but take it personal when they don't share the same camaraderie as I do.
There I said it, let the flames start; I feel the way I feel about it and nothing will change that.

You're not alone with this... I was in the military too and I think switching just sucks further away from a combat simulation game and a lot more closer to just another arcade game.

Auto switch is used to try to balance sides

Game chess pieces aren't the military. :aok

I understand the sentiment. I think Hitech had good intentions when it was implemented, and it is a good way for those to looking for a fight every second to acquire that. But as with any special consideration for a specific group, there is always the down side to the other groups. Add to that those individuals that utilize the "special consideration" to get extra kills or grief other players and it takes away form the game.
I have noticed in game that many of the auto switch players, when switched, announce on 200 that they were switched and are heading to the other war front. Unfortunately everyone does not do that. You find out when the player that was beside you defending a base, is switched and they come back, knowing where you are and boom your dead. Not fun, but for now it is what it is.

So this is a gv thing?

Understood. Many players, probably most, like to fight as a team, whether the team is one of the chess pieces or their particular squadron. Others (raises hand) aren't team-oriented. For those, the enjoyment is a combination of the combat activity itself, and the greater camaraderie that comes from knowing the people on all three sides. The game needs both types, just as it needs both the war-winners and the furballers.
As to the auto-switch, you don't find out that you've been switched until it's happened. At that point you can announce the change, but you had no control over how it occurred.

Imho that is where the biggest impact is. I can't tell you how many times I have seen my example happen to me or other players near by. Lutrel and Cav's view is certainly valid in my eyes as well.

I think side balancing could be better accomplished by a spawn the delay for side or sides that are over populated.....
your side has too many players, you spawn in to find yourself on the runway sitting there for 45 seconds, subject being killed sitting on that Runway.
Same thing for GV"s........ to many players on your side, your tank spawns in with XXX number of seconds where it can't move or fight. but can be killed.

There are players that refuse to play if eny kicks in and they have to fly anything above eny 10 despite outnumbering the other teams.

If its the autoswitch feature that some of us use, its not for points, we all get the same number of points regardless of team. If its perks you are talking about, you only get the winning side perks if you've been on the team for several hours. However, as the final players of this game, we need to all be more friendly with each other. Too often I see people chastised for being on the other team instead of some common decency and chivalry. I was even kicked from my squad because I tried another team for a day when none of them were online to play. This hardcore chess piece loyalty is not a good thing, especially when its 20 people against 4.
And auto switchers almost never get the map win points because they are always on the smallest team.

I fly knights or bishops. Depends where there is a fight..

I like the auto switch I got sick and tired of either being on or against the 15 vs 3 team. I like to think of it as attacking the attackers. :airplane: :airplane: :airplane:

No, you like it to horde (hog, monopolize) boats then side switch to sink them and vice versa.

Now that's funny

There is a pretty solid core of guys that use auto switch to find fights too. Doesn't have anything to do with points on my end.
-
It isn't like the person has intentionally switched just to get you.... it is a feature I use... sometimes it can actually be a real pain in the you know what.... I do find though, that I am always fighting beside a green team mate so still a team player so to speak :P
-
Now that's funny
You do it all the time. You fight to sink a boat then side switch and take it over when it respawns, killing good fights for HOURS as you drive it off to nowhere -- only to get it sunk again any way.

Pretty much agree with lutrel and CAV and I fly only Knights. What comes to point system, haven't even bothered to find out how it works and how to gather them, as they are totally insignificant for me; I'm in AH just to have some fun. Or to get pissed... :D

LOL I try to avoid that if possible, but alas I'm not always successful. :aok

I prefer side switching :salute to GIANT ENY’s
Besides, you get to chat with the switchers.

I'll occasionally switch if there is no fight on my front. But try to avoid going right back to the same battleas the other country if on auto switch

Same, lots of good, honest pilots on Knights.
Then again, good honest pilots don't live very long, compared to points farmers like TheJudge and company. :rofl
Still. I'd rather fight an uphill war, it feels better to me.

All sides are more alike than different. Every side has its good and bad. I usually fly Knights, but then they are usually low number when I am on.

It appears certain individuals in this thread are unaware that you cannot control when or to what country you are automatically switched.

Then again.... you can switch to any country you want if you don't use autoswitch. Points mean nothing.

It appears certain individuals in this thread are unaware that you CAN control HOW or to what EXTENT YOU CAN SCREW WITH A country WHEN you are automatically switched.

Never thought much about it when I auto switched and then were fighting those I was just fighting with until someone here whined about it...
I still don't as finding a decent fight is the priority the hour I am on, not taking some base nor winning some map...

I thought a 3 hour switch would have made a lot more sense, but then again there always is a more complicated approach to take...I tried the switch thing for a bit, but being on the low #s team isn't always beneficial to my fun due to neither side attacking it leaving no fights.

Nice...another beoch whining thread....hahaha
I needed a good laugh
The whole idea is to make and find what is fun for you
