I'd like to reskin one of my earlier AHII P-38J skins - I noticed Ack-Ack made YouTube videos of him flying, and he often used this skin from the 479th FG, "Little Edris", and I'd like to redo it as a dedication to him.
I guess I did it so long ago I don't have a back up of it, but here are the reference images I do have (looking for more):

Resurrection of a 479th FG skin AKAK used to fly some years ago. I saw him also in Vraciu's fine Zemke's bare metal '38J. He was a killer in whatever skin he flew. <S>

Most excellent.

That's beechin!

I'm inclined to think the overspray under the nose is fresh OD....

Very nice skin Oboe, well done.

Thanks. You know when I originally did this skin, I went by primarily the cover art of the 479th Group history, top left image. But if I compare the top right B&W photo, it sure looks to me like the nose color is lighter than the OD green.
As I understand it, leaders planes were often splashed with color somehow to make them more identifiable for form-up purposes, but I don't get where the artist came up with the dark forest green trim as the splash color. Having second thoughts about this one...

The darker green goes almost to the wing root... I can't imagine it isn't OD.
Perhaps they were painting over old nose art.

In this photo the nose looks lighter than the OD green. Not sure how the artist got a shade of dark forest green from that...
