Title: It has happened again.
Post by: MiloMorai on March 27, 2023, 11:57:04 AM
Yup, another school shooting in the USA, this time in a private elementary school (K to G6) in Nashville TN. The shooting is dead but no info on the number of children and adult casualties, yet.

Teachers need to be armed.

They go for schools because they know schools = easy victims

Then people blame the tool, not the person that was a wacko jacko fruitcake.

Using their "reasoning", if someone drives into a crowd and kills a few people, then cars need to be banned because they are being used as dangerous weapons with the intent to kill

I agree.

Drunk drivers kill more than 10,000 people a year in the US. that's 1/3rd of all traffic related deaths.

Semp, sure. Why not arm the janitor?

Super size at mcdonads was removed because people were saying that the extra size was making them fat and demanded mcdonalds remove it. So they were blaming someone else as its their fault they got fat, not their fault they were shoving fistfulls of fries into their piehole and drinking the extra large coke while making piggy noises while they eat

it is?

People get drunk and drive, then kill people. Why don't we ban alcohol? Would be an easy fix to the problem, wouldn't it?

Or could it be that people will still drink and drive and it doesn't matter if alcohol were illegal or not. A criminal is a criminal. They don't care about laws.

But there are laws and drunk drivers are punished and that does drop the driver mortality rate. You never really make a good argument regarding this issue. But then, I never expect you to ... so ... *ShruG*

A car is the most regulated thing on the planet. Where are some of your flags of tyranny when you have to go renew that drivers license?

Nevermind… I’m going to do myself a favor and disengage…  :bolt:

think you mean ban cars. if there's no alcohol there's still seizures, diabetes and legally prescribed drugs for different illnesses.

there are laws about shooting people too. Shooters get punished.

owning a gun is a constitutional right. Driving is not a right and neither is drinking.

why is there never an outcry to ban alcohol when a drunk kills a busload of kids? Drunk drivers kill lots of people and you never hear anyone calling for bans on alcohol or bars.

I want background checks on people before they can buy a drink in bars. We need to regulate alcohol. Nobody needs anything with a higher alcohol content than .005%

Too broad a rant. Nobody is actually calling for the banning of all guns - just the most frequently used ones in mass shootings. So now, which alcohol do you want to ban? Might I suggest working on your rant a bit more before clinging to it and thinking it's the pov of genius?  :aok

alcohol took a constitutional amendment to ban it and 1 to bring it back.  you could argue it is

Will never happen. The governments tax the hell out of alcohol so if you banned that, that would be a lot of money missing out of their pockets. Its easier for certain groups to twist words on the boom stick boogeyman about how some inanimate object gains sentient and shoots someone and needs banned rather then say the shooter was a mentally nuts nutjob that should of been locked in a mental institution years ago rather then allowed to roam the streets. Would happen less if you had to be medically cleared by a psychologist that you were mentally sound and fit to own and operate a firearm. But also  that does not prevent certain groups to get illegal stolen guns and commit crimes (see chicago, detroit, etc)

Seems MW is for increasing taxes on gun sales in order to make them ban proof (though it already seems the NRA has achieved that without resorting to such)*.

*I might have his intent wong but then it may be unintentional on his part.

They are calling for the banning of guns that they claim are most often used in mass shootings - but those *aren't* the so-called "assault weapons," nor are they long guns in general.  In multiple victim shootings, a handgun is used most often.  Long guns are used in about 3% of all murders in the US.  For that matter, mass shootings themselves represent less than 5% of all murders in the United States (2020 statistics because they popped up first -see https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/02/03/what-the-data-says-about-gun-deaths-in-the-u-s/).

Of course, there was an organization out to ban handguns when I was younger - it was called Handgun Control, Inc.  It changed its name and is now the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

I mean it even says well-regulated. This thread should be entered into the Slippery Slope Hall of Fame.

And we all know they meant “Bear” arms… as in you kill a bear, you keep its arms. Family guy was pretty clear on this.

Only for as long as Billy agrees to be well-regulated. That part seems to get left out a lot.

Propaganda media causes school shootings?

When they constantly use rhetoric about how racist, misogynistic, nazist, fascist (but not communist), xenophobic, transphopic, on and on and on. Then eventually you are going to have emotionally charged people do something stupid. They are also pushing the anti AR narrative which goes right into their narrative "how many more children have to die" rhetoric which sounds like more of a threat.

Nope, the identity of the shooter and then eventually the story will disappear from the main news because the shooter doesn't fit the narrative of what certain groups are claiming on why there is so much gun violence
