Had my oil changed at my GMC dealer and they told me there were two recalls on my 2500 HD Denali. As it turns out one is my chip for my park assist is in. So now they can install it. The other is just a software update for the steps. I had to reschedule for those as together it takes about 4 hours. Seems like a long time but better than something being broken or falling off.

My neighbor took his Ford 2500 SD in at just over 15000 miles last week with a leaking heater core. Makes you wonder about QC these days.

There isn't any
Everyone is busy quietly quitting ..why do you think it takes 4 hours for a 10 minute software push?

Billing 4 hours of labor to ford for a "recall fix" is an easy way for the garage to get free $$$ from the dealer.

I had a Mazda 3000, I got 275000 miles no problem, bought a Silverado V8 4x4 in 08, it has 350k still runs, and my dad has a 2011 Nisan Titan with 475k on it.

My Chevy 05 crew cab diesel has well over 200k on it. I'll be selling it soon. The towing capacity of the newer compared to the older is quite a bit better. The 10 speed transmission is simply a game changer. Pulling my 5ver is like it is not even back there now.

Not true just bought a Lexus and it’s a great suv. Unlimited time 100k mile warranty, when I asked it it takes 10 years to get 100k they said “well you’ll have 10 years of warranty.” Traded a 07 crv with 95k on it and they gave me 5k for it.
CRV cost just under 18k when I bought it in 09….didn’t owe me a thing…
Was able to pay cash for the Lexus and if I get 10 or 12 years out of it it will be the last car I ever buy.

09 S500 4matic Mercedes with 98k on it.
Drove 57 miles last month. At that rate, it will take 35 months to get to 100,000 miles

1999 Ford F350 dually crew cab, Power Stroke Diesel (IH Diesel), 247k still running great.

.
Recalls are dealer only so dealership technicians are the guys who get paid 2 labor hours to replace a dashboard because the “green materials” went green long before the warranty ran out.
Blame the engineers who also decided to make wire insulation taste delicious to the rodents.
Blame manufacturer for putting known defective parts in a car to get it delivered and then charging the technicians with the task of replacing the airbag that was installed in the car three weeks earlier by the factory.
Now the tech. Gets paid .8 hours to pull the dash and replace the airbag.

Had an E class for a few years, replaced the cap and rotor and it cost north of 100 bucks, the Honda cap and rotor could the bought for less than 50 bucks. Don’t get me wrong was a nice car but just too expensive to maintain. MB wouldn’t release any codes so you were forced to use the dealership even after the warranty was up. Mine was a 91 with the straight 6 which were famous for warping the head.
