Especially since he's wrong in his assertion.
Herbert Ihlefeld did indeed score 100 victories before Heinz Bär, but Ihlefeld never held a score of exactly 103 at the end of a day. He achieved victories 103-106 on April 22, 1942. So his rudder would have been marked with 100+2 or 100+6 but never 100+3.
On the other hand, Heinz Bär scored victories 99-103 on May 19th. So seeing his rudder marked 100+3 makes total sense - especially considering the nature of the photo, the commemoration of victory 100. Furthermore, Bär had already been promoted to Gruppenkommandeur of I/Jg 77 by this point.
