Same here Mongoose. :salute

I believe this was a repair of an ascending aortic aneurysm. That is really dangerous surgery and while I am not sure what date the procedure was performed, I suspect the Surgeon will want him monitored in the ICU for upwards of a week.

I had no doubt I would read this.
Good for you Dale, a page has been turned. A good time to exhale.
Be good to yourself. Make new happy memories for yourself and kids.
Let the negative feelings go. They won’t serve you well. Sometimes we need to cut the rope that holds that old ship to the dock and push it off and let it drift out to sea.
Best of luck

Spoke with Dale this evening. He's tired and sore but awake. The nurses have had him up and walking today. He estimates he'll be a guest at the 4077th MASH for about 5 days. I'll talk to him tomorrow and give a report then.

Great to hear all went well, recovery takes longer as we age!
Today I start back on that road I’ve been on,just a scan but as usual that leads to more. I see the radiologist at the end of the month for the results, just hope they leave me be as I’ve missed the last 2 summers being in recovery. Ya and summer here is only a few days…..
Get well but take your time!

Thanks for the great news!
After getting my pair of stents in 2018 and being told one blockage was 98% and identified as a widow maker, I felt like I was given a new lease on life!
Beta blockers sucked as they made me tired as heck but I was taken off them after the 1st year
Take it easy and appreciate the newness of what were common experiences before your heart repair

You should start with some blended crap…like bad coffee….then when it’s time and you’ll know then break out the good stuff… :rofl
They told me I was clear several years ago and I went out and treated myself,a single shot of Louie XIII only to find out later I wasn’t clear…. If they leave me alone this summer I may treat myself again, checked the price and the stuff has gone through the roof,800 bucks for 50 ml. or 2 ozs. But as a good buddy said you can’t take it with you!

I've had a pacemaker for 8 years now. It took about 6 months before I could lay on my back for an extended period of time w/o feeling a burning sensation on the underlying muscle.
The good news is, you're done going through metal detectors, just tell them you have a pacemaker and they take you around the metal detector. ;)

Been following this thread, daily. Wonderful outcome, Dale. Best wishes for your continuing recovery.

I understand he also had a Rectomology while he was sedated. That is the procedure where they sever the cord that runs from your eyeballs to your arse hole so you don't have such a sh×tty outlook on life. :D

How ya feeling so far HT? I'm going to guess "pain" is still on that menu? Any issues so far; bleeding, super itchy at surgical site? Pain killers doin there thing or did they ween you off them already?
Just take your time, keep it nice and slow no matter how much you wanna go fast. It'll help out for sure. :aok
-
I heard they had to prop him up and he is just winging it. Also he is having trouble keeping his gear up.
Note... this may all be hearsay.
I was going to send him a bottle. I was sure he could not drink alcohol.... so I was actually really going to just send the bottle. I have to get it all the way empty first. My first try, I got snookered and forgot where I put the bottle. I plan to try again this weekend.

Finally feeling almost normal. I had a major set back on May 13 - 14. After dinner (my last memory is eating meetloaf) I'm not making sence to my sister. So much so I don't even know I am getting divorced. Back to ER first thing I remember is waking up in CT machine.(scan showed nothing but assume it was a very small blood clot because a few other memories are just gone) I had a very rare reaction to the heparin called "autoimmune heparin induced thrombocytopenia" This put me back in the hospital for a week and zapped all my energy for weeks to come. My blood work finally came back to normal a week ago.

Holy toejame! You need a break from all this. :(

Sorry you experienced set-backs. But glad you’re feeling close to normal. Nothing like your experience, but I had a heat stroke and heart attack at same time, I know what its like to be totally drained of energy, mine last months. I think you’ll do better then I did,
Have a question for you but don’t want to bother you during this period. If you’re up to it give me a call after 5pm ct. any day. won’t keep ya long
Glad to hear from you. Take care of yourself.

Glad you are feeling better!

Good news. Rest, you need it.
