Title: This is an odd little problem
Post by: Dichotomy on May 30, 2023, 05:12:11 PM
practicing today and figuring out by feel where all my control buttons are.  Having a blast shooting drones up so dual purpose practice and gotta love VR for SA.

Boom.. I'm in passthrough mode

'hmmm..' I think and go to task manager.  'well maybe all these programs running in the background caused it'.  Close out of everything and fire it up again.

Maybe 15 minutes later the issue repeated itself.  Any ideas?

AFAIK the only way to get into pass through mode is with the hand controllers. You still using them?

pass thru mode is activated by tapping the side of the headset twice if I understand what you mean by "pass thru". Are you jerking your head around that hard?  :rofl

I dont think its going to be something with the computer. More likely something in the oculus settings would be my guess. Only time mine has done it was when I reached upi to adjust the headset on my face and yes I bumped it twice.

they're on but way away from me when I'm playing.  Haven't gotten to that part yet.

fugi.. I wouldn't say 'jerking my head around' but your theory makes sense.  My headset may be sensing the cord tapping against it when I'm looking way up and over my shoulder because thats what I was doing when it happened.

I'll try rerouting the cord tomorrow and see if that straightens it out for me.

Thanks

Tapping the headset. The RiftS didn't do that nor does my G2 now. Cool?

Try this kiwi set. I've used it for years. Keeps the cable wrangled while you're playing.

Using the jstick views with vr makes looking around much easier imo

I use velcro straps (in my case the one they use to tie up red leaf lettuce in the grocery store) to tie my cable along the side strap. When I were it the cable hangs down my back out of the way.

it's always logistics isn't it?  I've got a ton of velcro ties of various shapes and sizes from the gardening hobby I picked up during my time away.
