Title: RIP Randy Meisner, founding member of Eagles
Post by: oboe on July 28, 2023, 12:08:46 AM
Damn.   He wrote and sang "Take It to the Limit", a song I remember well as it was on local radio constantly when I was in high school.  He was a huge part of then band's harmonies on many other hits too.

I remember a time when rockers only died in accidents or from overdoses; there was no such thing as old age back then.

Another member of my favorite band gone. Take to the Limit has always been my favorite song of theirs, too.  :salute

His reluctance to sing Take it to the Limit live and the subsequent badgering for it by Glenn Frey is what led him to quit the Eagles.  He hadn't been well for many years.  He was already suffering from dementia when his wife accidentally shot herself with a hunting rifle that was in a gun case in a closet.  I'm surprised he lived this long, actually.
