Bf 110G-2 of 5./ZG 1 in the summer of 1943, based at Monte Corvino, Italy. II/ZG 1 was already battle hardened in from its experience in Russia when it was transferred to Italy in April 1943. The unit specialized in ground attack and anti-shipping missions during the invasion of Sicily. The unit was transferred to western France after Sicily fell to continue its anti-shipping role over the Atlantic.
This aircraft features ZG 1's iconic wasp nose art. The Mediterranean theater IFF white tail band partially covers the final letter of the fuselage code, presumably covering a yellow band from the Russian front. The lower cowls were painted yellow for added IFF.

That nose art looks so good, great job Devil.

Fantastic 110! Love the Wespen nose art. Interesting two-tone radio mast-almost looks like desert tan on the lower half?

Great nose artwork as usual!

It's a section made of unpainted wood. All 110's are like this.
A few color photos to illustrate:

Brilliant. I have always liked Wespengeschwaders (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLLWXvfHY0c) 110s, have several 1/72 diecast models of them.
