A popular P-47N scheme, originally by Krusty.

Nice job.  I'm probably the only one who will suggest darkening the black slightly, but that's a minor quibble.

Thanks guys.  I've always thought the black and silver looked nice on the Thunderbolt's frame, and the large squadron patch on both sides adds a nice splash of color...

The markings are and rudder color are directly from Krusty's bmp; I usually try to keep some work from the original if I can, and just tone down the color, make adjustments, etc to counter AHIII's more powerful lighting.  I can look at the black again - it may be the angle and my spec map values also.   Generally I try to keep black shades on the lighter side, to allow some headroom for the really true black areas like shadows, gaps and holes.

Not sure I can get this one submitted by Monday - busy week here and I have another skin in front of it that I must finish first.

If you need a day or two extra to submit it, let me know.

I still think the black is a bit too faded.  I'd bump it up a bit.    It's almost charcoal grayish.

I disagree. It looks right and not too saturated, and therefore like a game/graphic.

It looks like charcoal gray not black.

At some point desaturation goes too far and we are all guilty of it.

It looks okay on my phone, but still light.  However, I don't play the game on my phone and on my monitor it looks too light.

I'm wondering how Devil's black paint compares.

It could be lighting angles but I think Devil's is darker.

There is almost no true black on that skin. The spinner and fuselage cross are RLM 70 black-green. The plate behind the cowl is a custom black-blue I use only for that panel as my usual black color doesn't look right there.

Well, that color looks darker than the Jug's and to my eye that's the direction I'd go, even if only slightly.  The Jug black is "pastel" on my end.

Devil what are the RGB values you use for RLM 70?

I've also found that the blacks on the Jug were set to only 80% opacity, so increasing that would make a difference...

The RLM 70 on that A-8 is RGB 49/54/47. There is a darker version I use on planes with green camouflage.

And since we're talking black, I use RGB 38/38/38 for black. It's probably a little darker than the black you have on this jug.

That might be the ticket.  Try 85% then 90% just to see.

If you look at the tires on the screenshot they look pretty dark.  Not saying that's ideal but it may give you some kind of reference for comparison.

The white diamond is my default 47N skin!   :rock

It’s probably in my top three skins for all planes.  :salute To the artist!

<S> Dadtallica, I hope you will like the new upgraded skin as much as you like the old one.  Technically, its not a white diamond on the rudder - it only looks white because we (the skinners) formerly used a whitish-grey base color to depict natural metal in the previous versions of AH.  The diamond is actually bare metal.  With AH3, we were given better tools that allow us to control more aspects of the skin, and this lets us simulate unpainted aluminum more realistically.

Cool even better!
