ALL pro sports and entertainment personalities are grossly overpaid.
I get ill when I do the math on some of them...
Given they don't work a full time job - try to do the calculations on an hourly rate ... it is sinful
If announcing was a 40hr week job and was fulltime 52 weeks a year tom brady ($37.5 million per year) would only make $18,028 an hour - you can double that easily as he won't have to put in anywhere near those hours to earn that sum
Have to wonder what it costs for this superstar at 700 mil to step up to the plate and strike out...
Criminal really as higher prices on everything else pays for this ridiculous amount - no one is worth that

Well the insane money is certainly there for the team owners. I say it's reasonable to pay the actual talent that brings in that money a fair share.

Why can’t a UPS driver make 170K? That stuff is hard work.
You should get paid whatever someone is willing to pay you. Imagine if you were at your job and they had a salary cap. Would you stay… lol no of course not.
Also, flying without icons is psychotic! :x

Same thing with heavy trucks; Formula 1 drivers get insane salaries, even they drive with such a tiny flat contraptions, while there are truckers hauling over 70 metric tons around. Bit slower, yes, but why to hurry?

I work in the industry for large sporting events. What most people don't realize is that for most sporting events, the food and beverage is controlled by another company in partnership with, in this case, the MLB. The MLB just makes a % of the food and beverage sales. The reason why the prices are so high generally is that half the year is off season and the F&B partner take huge losses during those months, so they really have 6 months to break even and hopefully get a profit. I can tell you that food and beverage certainly arent paying for those salaries as much as you might think. LA is a huge city. They've been the Yankees of the west for 66 years. Not only do they represent a huge expensive city. They also have an international following from many Pacific and hispanic countries. Their marketing, former hall of fame legend players, WS, Play offs, and international presence is what makes them the money.
I sorta figured he'd end up on one of the two teams simply for the historical aspect to it, plus everyone knows you generally go where the best offer is.

Don’t say that in front of a professional female athlete :bolt: :rofl
Especially if her sport is MMA.

Not only that, but now in some sports you dont know if the female athlete is a true female or someone pretending to be one

Folks think athletes are overpaid. The money to pay them comes from somewhere. Supply, demand and capitalism....all of that.
Yeah, I think it's absurd as well. Yet, I do nothing to stem the cash tide. I buy the advertised products, I go to the games and I buy the $12 beers and $42 Red Sox caps. No point in complaining if I'm the source.
Most of us can do an ordinary job and most of us pay extra for an exemplary job. Pretty much none of us can hit a Nolan Ryan nasty. Those few that can, we watch them and we pay to do so. The more of us that do so, the more they get paid. If enough of us decide that it's too costly to watch a skillset, the cost to watch comes down the salaries do as well-just ask the LPGA and PBA.
Yup, it's astounding and critical mass has to be met at some point....or does it?
Everyone who gives a crap about their job knows what they are worth to their employer and expects to be paid in accordance to that worth.

There were some overpaid players in the past from the Angels which was legitimately the most stupid decisions ever made by Arte Moreno. Albert Pujols for $275 Million, Vernon Wells, Josh Hamilton, CJ Wilson and to name but a few. Personally Ohtani should be a full ability instead of hitting because he is a decent pitcher. He will get surgery for his arm in the future, but for him to be worth $700 Million, he needs to be fully healthy. This could end up like Bobby Bonilla Day of he is hurt and has to be bought out.

It came out yesterday that he's deferring almost all of the contract, $680M, for 10 years! He's gonna get paid $2M a year for 10 years taking the rest at the end. That's been described as Bobby Bonilla day on steroids! That's great news for the Dodgers in the near term as it gives them room to sign players. This guy is a generational talent but he won't be pitching until at least next year. They need pitching bad. They might sign Kershaw if he decides to come back just so he can end his career with them but his sun has clearly set. Buehler had TJ #2 and isn't starting the season. May also coming off TJ #2. Couple of big question marks there.

...in other words this place isn't going to get any better
People living under the scarface philosophy lol

I thought for sure Hamilton was a future HOF guy. As usual, I was way off-just like I was with Greg Jeffries, Mike Greenwell, Freddie Patek (kidding!) and Bobby Bonilla. At least Bonilla still gets paid like a HOFer.
