Title: MASTERS OF THE AIR, epic AH event and miniseries, reg. open. LETS ROLL! :)

The long-awaited miniseries Masters of the Air (done by the team that did Band of Brothers) starts late January and runs through mid March.
To make it even more epic, we are running a glorious Masters of the Air scenario. Saturdays from February 3rd to March 2nd.

Glorious 8th AF action. High-alt B-17's, P-51's, P-47's vs. 109's and 190's in the skies of Germany.
In the immortal words of General George S. Patton, don't miss it because: "Thirty years from now, when you're sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you, 'What did you do in the great Masters of the Air Aces High scenario,' you won't have to say, 'Well... I shoveled s h*t in Louisiana.'"

If you want to register into B-17's or your side is full, send me a message.
Registration is for folks who will play 3 or more frames.
Even if you can only make a couple of frames or 1, you are welcome to show up on game day, and you will get to fly. You will be put into a group that needs pilots.
Registration is for folks who will attend most frames so that they can lock in what plane and group they get to fly.

Brook is a modest pillar of AW and AH. CS History. He has a great crew who do great things, always. Predictable, consistent, in a great way.

Is there any possibility that the event could be open to trial players as walk-ons if I could interest any DCS players in giving it a try?

The 2 week trial should have access to everything - I guess my only concern is people not having things figured out prior to the frame (eg. how do I fly questions). Typically there is not much time for us to figure out that sort of stuff, but they are more than welcome to give it a shot.

A 1 month trial would have gone further to making it feasible.

Just confirmed with HT they have access. I agree w/ the 1 month thing but probably a bit late now to get that situated.
If I find some interested, are there vets who would be willing to help onboard them and get them basically up to speed fast? They would be experienced combat flyers, just new to AH.
Can I say I would find someone to help them before the event?

I'm willing to run practice sessions if someone tells me what time to do it and communicates the details to whoever is wanting to show up for that.

It's a drama miniseries based on WWII 8th AF action. My guess is plenty of combat action, but certainly not 100% of just that. Also some POW aspects. Some romance. Etc.

I think we will be lucky if this attempt escapes the Hollywood fluff and social justice messages they cram in these days

This is a very good problem to have! A very good sign for the scenario. I know of at least 3 more players who would like P-47s - it might be a good idea to increase the 56th FG to 8; the same size as the other two FGs.
I do have concern about the size and concentration of the groups however. If we have a single bomber stream of 42 bombers (14 players x 3 B-17s ea) plus 2 or 3 covering FGs and 2 or 3 attacking Gruppen, it could turn into quite a stuttering slideshow on people's monitors when combat starts. The maneuvering and firing of so many planes in a small area is sure to stress a lot of people's PCs.
Might I suggest adding a second bomb group - the 91st or 303rd? With a main group and secondary group hitting different targets (or the same target at different times) it could spread the action out and lessen the stress on people's CPUs and connections. It could also provide a more interesting tactical planning situation for air commanders, with different routes and timings rather than a single large group. Just a thought.
I should be able to make 3 or 4 frames, and am standing by to fill in wherever the need is greatest. I'm happy to fly bombers or fighters, Allied or Axis. Would love to see this scenario become as memorable as the old Der Grosse Schlag scenarios.

I'd also like to add "Well Done!" for the current Message of the Day that advertises the scenario with the clipboard opening when logging into the MA. Very nice work!
I think we can expect even more attention and some more players looking to join the scenario from this.

As for numbers - I don't think it should be an issue but if it turns out to be, we can adjust target areas for subsequent frames. The bombers also have the ability to split into a couple groups on their own if they choose to.

Pilots based in England got more access to regular civilian life. Exploits in London do figure into some pilot memoirs. And the equivalent for some for German pilots (Joachim Marseilles, as an example).

Seriously. This stuff can't be duplicated anywhere. You can't buy an events team like this. They really have their ducks in a row.

It reminded me a lot of the MA in AH1. Massive coordinated squad missions, the pucker factor was high, you knew you were going to find a furball, a fight and a good time. It’s worth the 14.99 a month just to be able to participate in events like this and what I experienced last night.
It was a fun well coordinated event. Never remember seeing so many B17s, they blacked out the sun.
