Title: monitor
Post by: guncrasher on May 20, 2024, 07:12:27 PM
I have a 27in 1440 60hz monitor.  I am thinking of replacing same size 1080p 175hz monitor.  my main problem right now is it beginning to look a little blurry when i move my had. or perhaps i always had that problem and just beginning to notice.

I have a 970nvidia video card on a 2500k cpu.  it still going strong.  what you guys think.

Id think the 970 would be hurting you more than the monitor. And bumping up to the 175mhz will add more strain to the card.

thanks fugi,

I thought of that, this card had it since it first came out. which is about how old my monitor is. with vsynch off i get consistent fps of 160 and above.  I thought by lowering the resolution it would be better for gaming.

The logic is sound. That said, you'd be lowering the pixel count to almost half but quadruplicating the maximum speed. But if your video card gives a constant 160+ fps without Vsync you should be able to get more speed. Also notice that it's possible to reduce the max speed of the monitor to something that is stable rather than bouncing between, say, 120 and 170 fps.

It's also recommendable to study some reviews, even some high speed monitors suffer from ghost images following moving targets.
