This P-40N, "Geronimo!" was operated by the 45th Fighter Squadron from Nanumea Airfield, Ellice Islands, in the central Pacific during the later half of 1943. The P-40's there were painted in a tan color to blend in with the sand and coral that made up the airstrip area. The underside was painted a light blue to blend in with the sky, and is given a wavy demarcation to the sand color on top. The shades used in reality are still up for debate, but I elected to use ANA 616 Sand and a light blue created by shifting Azure out of the light purple range. Apparently, the real color was created by mixing Insignia Blue and Insignia White, but my results in attempting this resulted in variations of blueish gray. These are the same colors used on my P-39Q from the 46th FS.
