Sentimental journey was at our local airport for the third time. Took my son and grandson out there. One hell of a time. Spent over $200 while i was there. Hundo on merch and $50 in each donation bomb.
After talking with one of the volunteers (the Co-Pilot) of the B-17 he let me climb into the pilots seat. I am so F**king pumped now after that. What an experience. They are offering rides this weekend.
Big shout out to the Commemorative Air Force for keeping these big planes up n running. :aok
Next week they will be in Cincinatti at an air show.

You lucky dawg.
Not many more people are gong to get that opportunity eventually.

Awesome. This one was on static display at Grissom AFB when I was there in early 80's. I climbed up in it and crawled around inside. Was pretty trashed back then.

The pilot was a straight pre-madonna. Took the guy twenty five minutes just to get in the pilot seat. Then he forgot his checklist. I went through the plane three times yesterday and it was really warm inside it. The passengers boarded at 10am and the pilot didn't crank up the engines until 10:40am.
Was a good time watching it take off.

Pre-madonna??? Had to read it out loud a few times until I figured out what you meant! I was just thinking about a pilot that had started his career before Madonna started making music, or something along the lines of her demos published under that name (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-Madonna). Nice! :aok

Prima donna, definition here: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/prima-donna

It tours around the country, world at times and has been in a few movies too.
Its home is Mesa, AZ - CAF Museum. I’ve been fortunate enough to climb inside and get a private tour (rainy day only one interested) from one of the crew ~2015.
It’s a shame that at one point a friend’s Great-Uncle and Adolf Galland worked together to build a fighter museum out there that was quite incredible. Falcon field is still a great visit if you have the opportunity but once upon a time there was a much larger collection there that’s been parsed out around the country.
Pima Air & Space is a lot more bang for your effort if you’re visiting AZ. However, you can also rent/tour the CAF planes. $325 for a B-25 waist gunner seat ride. :airplane:

Glad you got to see her, I hate to think of their fate 20-30yrs and beyond. 😬
