Keep the borders open another 4 years and both will be accomplished from within imo..throw in a weak and ineffective if not corrupt justice system that doesn't prosecute nor imprison properly and it's a done deal

My buddy text me from Seattle yesterday within hours of landing. He and his wife are heading out on an Alaskan cruise. Shortly after arriving they stopped by two stores to pick up items for the trip. At both stores they witnessed a person walk in, grab items, and walk out without paying. Both cashiers said the same thing, "there's nothing we can do". As my sister who lived in L.A. for several years told me, the people out here squeak, yet they continue to vote in the same policies.

When I was in high school ('88-'91) one of the best jobs a kid could get was at Publix. Not just because it was a nice place to work, but because the stock boys/baggers were responsible for apprehending shoplifters. A code would come over the PA and it was all hands on deck. Occasionally the shoplifter would fight back giving the employees the green light for an arse whooping. The cops would arrive, scoop up the shoplifter and everyone would go back to work.

Except that is not why these employees did not act. Why would they act when shoplifting is essentially legal in these places? You have a better chance of facing charges for trying to be a good Samaritan than the shoplifter does for stealing.

In a situation like this there are 2 terms that become relevant. They are latin terms used in legal situations. They are de jure and de facto.
In the case of shoplifting, yes, every state has a law stating it is illegal to steal from a store etc. That is de jure.
There are also states that modified the law regarding shoplifting making a prosecution or even stopping the act virtually impossible. That is also de jure.
Those states therefor, have in reality removed any threat or fear of prosecution for the theft as long as you stay below an arbitrary limit of value / money lost in the theft. That makes the act of shoplifting now "legal" in fact or de facto. The victims of the theft have no recourse and there is no prevention possible, particularly when stopping the thief may involve a physical conflict and injury to the thief, who can press charges for assault against the loss prevention person.
In short, yes the act is still illegal by strict definition of the statute. (de jure) Without any option to prosecute or prevent it becomes not illegal. (de facto) There are very many video's posted showing the act of theft and the store personnel having to stand clear and allow it to occur. Proof of de facto legalization of the theft.

Being from Chicago area and seeing it, I can’t agree more. Disgusting.
The fun part, they come to Indiana thinking its the same way here, its not, we throw an army at them, OR they go home in s body bag. Many did. Their choice, we deliver.
I don’t know anyone in IN who doesn’t own a gun. They thought they would bring their march here and smash and grab. Every store owner was on their roof with a rifle. Never seen so many low lifes suddenly act so proper like right quick.
3 yrs ago between Jan - April, just in my area. 153 stolen car chases, 90% were from Chitcago, 80% caught. We throw 15 squads, a hele, and swat after them. IL can’t chase there nor into here, but we can chase into IL whimp land. we chased and caught them all the way into Chicago.
IN is vicious, and i love it. Our cops love that stuff. Shoplifting? We throw the whole PD at them. We’re proud of them

Living or Near Gary, IN and Chicago, IL can build character.
Gary has a lot of guns and they kill each other.
Chicago has gun laws and guns and they kill everyone, even your child and granny.
Unknown to many, a thing about Chitcago, a cpl yrs ago a train car full of guns got emptied in a big heist. These have been on a the streets a few yrs now. Plus, IN being a red state, they will sell guns to anyone, droves from IL pop over the border to buy them like a trip to buy fireworks
If you live in NW-IN where I do, you have Gary (murder capital of the country) to the east, and Chitcago to the west. Both have a lot of idiots and gangs with a lot of guns.
Get street smart or be on the menu. Why where I live everyone has a gun, and pissed off enough to use it.
10 miles south every town is like Mayberry, vast contrast.

Edit: not every single gun. They can go to WI, but IN is much closer. Or buy them 30miles S of Chitcago in IL. IN still closer.
They are in fact bought legally from a gun shop in Gary. Yep, absolutely.
Chitcago was trying to sue the gun shops for doing it. One guy come over, buy 10 guns legally, then take them back to Chitcago and sell them illegally to anyone.
Yep, its an absolute fact. <shrug> caught on cam. Common knowledge here.

Another fact. Come to a NW-IN gun show, half the parking lot is IL license plates.

In many states, including Indiana and Illinois, you cannot be a resident of Illinois and legally purchase a hand gun in Indiana. Indiana will ship it to an authorized dealer in Illinois where the buyer must then satisfy all Illinois state laws to purchase. All this baloney about guns being legally bought out of state and brought back in is a lie.
Of course criminals don't care about laws.

Another side of the coon, Gary people can buy them and illegally sell them to IL people too. We had 3 county cops who got caught doing that.
No natter hiw you squint your eye, IN is feeding Chitcago guns.
A chicago person can rent a crappy apartment, call theselves a resident, and buy and sell.

Not true. Come up and watch.
I know what the law says. Legit gun dealers are not going to risk their license and prison to sell illegally. There's no shortage of legit gun sales.
You want an unarmed society that can be controlled by an armed "police" force? Because that is clearly what some want.

The worst of it happened 2019-21. But it still happens, just not on epic scale.
In Chicago/IL, it worsened over specific leadership, the past Mayor Lori Lightfoot (beetle juice) and DA Kim Starr. They were both run out of office, things got better. Not only did they do next to nothing, they worsened it by handcuffing cops. No more foot chases, no car chases over 70mph, they can’t chase into IN. They fed the problem steroids. Things are closer to normal levels, which are still considered bad. They were nightmares. Even the Bears wanted to leave Solider Field and build a new place in the west suburbs.
Gary,IN went south when steel mills shut down decades ago, its been imploding since.
A lot of people talk and talk without knowing data/stats, and don’t realize how wrong they are. Scrub all cable media, yes even yours. They have to fill 24 hr air-time, and do it poorly.
When you actually study raw data from sites like FBI - Crime Tables and data from OurWorldinData.org, you get a true perspective in reality.
Cities and states are different. I used to have a spread sheet showing comparisons.
The blue cities in red states with relaxed gun laws are the worst, many variables spell this out, during the same period, and even now. When we switch the convo from cities to states you’ll find a reality.
Neither IL nor IN top the charts of violent crime. TX had #1 spot for murder by gun and violent crime. Later second only to CA.
In the top 10 states of poverty and Murder by gun, top 9 are Red states, the exception is New Mexico in poverty Those same red states have relaxed gun laws, abortion bans and require more fed financial aid to keep their economy going. KY being the worst in economy and need in fed financial aid. Don’t take my word for it, study the data.
The worst blue cities are in red states.
Per capita, Gary, IN swallows Chicago whole in crime. Its much worse. The thing is states with relaxed gun laws not only feed the good people guns, but also sell them to bad people. I’ve been shot at in Gary, its a 3rd world zone. Someone was trying to snipe me, and a horrible shot. All 4 shots mussed by 5-6 ft.
Be angry for my reality I present. But go to
Our World in Data.org and FBI - Violent Crime Tables. The data smashes political beliefs real fast. How much people have been BSed is mind blowing.
This is why I’m independent\Centrist and believe everyone should be. The raw data beats political stances into dust. Its reality vs perception. Politics is nonsense, overflowing with BS.
Don’t take my word for it, read. Data is your friend. When you do, you’ll realize which media is closer to truth. FN is the absolute worst. What they spew is not even close to reality, its 100% political and in the design to keep you in a unhealthy daily anger for marketing value. Watch local news, NPR, BBS. Don’t watch anything with opinion. Opinion is not journalism. Unless you orefer a dream world, then just continue. Fools gold is always a disappointment.

You don’t hear about Gary because they have
No media or news channels. All media monitors all media channels. If there us nothing to monitor it stays hidden. If I drove you through Gary you would be truly sickened, and scared as hell.
Eagler, my friend, you constantly base dark predictions on dark imaginings.
If you were to go back and check which of your predictions actually came true, you may be disappointed in how many times you were wrong. But because you jump from one to another your not keeping track of the actual outcomes. I attribute this to enormous information rooted in fear. This is why i speak data over opinion.
I don’t know how some don’t have heart attacks or nervous breakdowns being unduly angry every day. You’ll never get your bearings in order because they move from one fear to another so fast. The object to getting you to believe what is not true is to keep you off balance every day. Your fears and predictions are purely politically based, not based on raw data of reality. Where ever you get your news you should back away and give yourself time to breathe.
I doubt ypu will, because most people put saving face over learning/ admitting a wrong, if you do what I say and read the data, your fear induced stress will start to fade. You don’t have to come here and admit it to me or others, but do it for yourself. Fear is based on the unknown. Dark imaginings are born. Your predictions are intensionally induced political opinion. Its unhealthy my friend. Back away from that stuff and enjoy the world as it really is. Fear causes stress, stress is poison to the body, this leads to anger, constant anger alienates one from friends the cycle spirals. I’m in no way telling you how to think. My only concern about opinions is they are based on fact, truth, reality. It saddens me what a party has dine to my friends, making them intolerable, they get 86ed because they became so damn toxic.
Take a break friend. Give yourself a break. Be good to yourself. Go fishing. :)
Once you read the data many fears will fade.
You want an experiment? I discovered this while in the hospital hooked up to heart monitors. When I watched TV programs my heart rate was fine, as soon as I watched cable news it spiked, even when I didn’t know it.
Buy a digital blood pressure monitor from Walgreens or CVS, where ever. Put it on when you watch say, the history channel and watch the numbers. Then turn on your news channel, i will be $100 right now you will see a spike. Your source is not healthy.
I’m not knocking you. I see symptoms that are not good for you. I see this in a lot of people, you’re not alone. Do it for you and family, give yourself a break. Smell the roses. You can’t turn the clock back. Worry about what IS, discard what could be. Real trouble has a way of finding you, searching is not required. Don’t add to the pile. It takes focus from where it should be.
You’re truly good people with your heart in the right place, you’re just caught up. Realize that.
If you do this, at some point, you’ll say to yourself, “for once, that idiot was right”.
I’ve been down a lot of roads, many of which you want no part of. I learned the hard way. I’m handing you a shortcut so you don’t. :)
Peace

I’m not going to debate this. Your imaginings and partisanship tell you this.
How reality is hidden is retained in not being revealed the truth. Its ourely power of suggestion to keep truth hidden. Nothing more, nothing less. Chicsgo snd Gary have no problems reporting it, when they would want it hidden the most.
People see ghost that are not there because they choose to see ghost that are not there. Uts saving face.
Just like TX has no power issues. Witnesses say otherwise. Didn’t they?
You’re very well worded, and convincing, it doesn’t make you right. :)
Its your way of discounting the source of reality. Again, saving face.

Its been normalized. You’ll be the last to notice. We ALL have fears.
Even the most pumped up chest holds fears. Afraid of being challenged. Fear us in body building, tattoos, piercings, wardrobe, talk, tv personas, gun infatuation. They are all Tells. Show me some who paints themselves intimidating and I’ll show you someone easily broken. Even the biggest baddest MFs I’ve known can be brought to their ever loving knees. Fear if invasion, apocalypse, pillaging, is fear. Fear of what we cannot control.
I stand by the saying; “if the power of suggestion doesn’t work, nothing else will.”.

Are you unaware Twitter severely censored conservative speech and was directed by the US govt to squelch certain criminal activity conducted by certain politicians and their families? Attempts to manipulate our elections affects me, you, and all of us.

Oh yeah, I'll gladly go back to that outrageous 50 cents a gallon gasoline of 1973.
-
At least the '73 fuel crisis was caused by OPEC and not our own internal policies.

I hear claims made by you and many others. I see no validation.

Crime stats are worthless since some states and large cities decided reporting crimes and collecting the data isn't necessary or desired. People who live there know better. People who spout off about crime being down are lying politicians and their lackeys.
Dont forget they also wont use crime stats because the stats are racist since most of the crimes were committed by blacks and illegals but you cant speak that because the truth hurts feelings and is a conspiracy by the whites

Only slightly biased and more than a hint of racism. Maybe check out the ethnicity of the majority of mass shooters in the last 20 years.

To think some think the criminal behavior today is normal and nothing is any worse than before..believe them not your eyes and ears

And save the rebuttal - I know your source will dispute mine as..... I remember now... "fake news".

As a proud liberal leftist, I would love to know precise specifics of what is unraveling... I mean beyond the death and doom pouring out of one candidate.
Try to be honest... try to explain how your life or the lives of your family friends and neighbors is heading for the crapper. A repeat of T's platitudes just won't cut it.
You are joking right?

And yet gun ownership has never been higher, thanks.

The maple syrup has seeped out from between ears.
