So VKB did an APEM/CH and is no longer selling spare parts for their existing line of controls?

So if it breaks and it's out of warranty your SOL.

I think he meant they aren't listed for sale on their web site but they are still available if you call.

Same here - I've ordered hats/parts from VKB, and hats from Virpil, and both sold them to me after I asked them.  I lost a hat, it was taken off the floor after it fell off its stem by my cat, never to be seen again.

Id love to be able to find parts for controllers as well as just generic hardware.

Im going to build my own set of rudder pedals. 1, because I like to build things, and 2 Im a cheap SOB!  :x

I have a CH set now and have had them for years. They are too close together and you have to use your legs to move them. I feel they are just not that accurate that way. Im looking to build some that I can use my ankels to just push the ball of my foot up/down to move them.

Im leaning toward a vertical/pendular setup like the Thrusmaster TPR pedals. Im sure I can build them for far less than $600.  What would make it easier is to find a supplier that has aluminum brackets and braces available instead of crafting them myself.

Anyone with links to any of these parts/hardware please post them here.

Thanks

Are these parts flat? Do you have CAD software?

No I dont have a CAD program. Im just looking for basic pieces. I started hunting down "robot parts" hoping to find some generic building parts.

A quick drawing for what I mean.

I would think you would be able to find pieces like that in all kinds of sizes but my "Google-Fu" is not worthy at the moment.

Don't know what you have planned but I like the axis motion of the VKB pedals better than my old CH Pro Pedals. The VKB pedals move up and down rather than slide forward and back. My VKB pedals don't have toe brakes though. Not sure how you would add those to pedals that don't pivot in the horizontal.

I think you could put the toe brakes on a 2 axis hat if you decide you need them. You might have to use vJoy and a config utility like Joystick Gremlin to emulate something the game can use.

Maybe not. Have to get pretty creative with that.

Im looking to build something that I can control with my feet, ankle/toes. Im thinking I could be more precise that way than trying to move my whole leg back and forth. After all Im not really pushing pedals that are connected to a rudder out in the wind connected by cables.

I like the pendulum movement used by the Thrustmaster TPR pedals, or a lower profile like the Falcon1 pedals. I think Id love a set of the TPR, but Im not spending $600+ on a set of pedals. 1, Im too cheap, and 2, wife is pretty good at hiding bodies I think  :)

I could make those parts out of wood but I think I would have a hard time keeping bushings or bearings square as well as keeping it a solid, strait movement.

Ill keep hunting, I have time.

Yep, I didn't write that up very well. You can get parts not listed on their site by contacting them. They were very responsive and helpful. Shipped pretty fast but it is coming from China so looks like it takes about 10 days. i should get the parts in by Thursday. I have the VKB pedals and you only use your foot in an upward/downward motion. I have 4 sets of CH pedals over the years and the VKB are much better.

LOL tried to send you a message but was blocked.

What size holes and how wide do you need the parts.

Cool because APEM/CH told me to get bent when I called them looking for a wiring cable/harness for my CH Pro Pedals USB.

One of the many reasons I gave my Kid nearly all of my CH stuff including replacements and parts.

Just sent you a message and it went through. Dont know why it would be blocked coming to me. I did have a lot of messaged in there, did some house cleaning.

As for the parts, I think 1/2 inch thick 1 inch wide would work. The holes I could drill once I source either some bushings or bearing for a 3/8 or 1/2 shaft. Its all pretty much wide open as to what I can dig up. I build from the seat of my pants....much like my flying now that I think about it. I have this part, next step is to figure out what I need for the next and so on.

Why do you ask?

I'll get on it.... Per your drawing. 1" wide, 1/2" thk and no holes. One of each??   Let me know....         I'll let you know when they are ready.

I answered your message before i saw this.........

This is the CAD. There are no holes. The centers will just be laser marked to help when you drill. They are in line at the laser now.

Nice looks good. Thinking now 1 inch wide would have been better, but I can work with it as is. Thanks!

I guess I owe you a couple Margaritas!

You don't owe me anything. It's just what friends do.

The parts are ready. Just boxed them up. Where do you want them sent to? I'll use UPS if that works for you.

Fugitive does a lot to help folks around here. It's the least I can do to show a little appreciation for a job well done.

Like you said "its what friends do". I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me this jumpstart on building some rudder pedals.

Thanks again Shuff  <S>
