This skin is an adoption of Larry's original.
P-39N from 30 GIAP, western Poland in May 1945. This aircraft was photographed during the closing stages of the war, when this unit was fighting over eastern Germany and northern Czechoslovakia. Most artists and modelers use white digits for the board number "84", but to me the photo reference clearly show the numbers match the spinner and fin cap, which were definitely painted light blue - the color assigned to 30 GIAP for it's ID markings. The insignia for the Soviet Air Force was painted on the doors. An inscription reading "For the fallen brothers" was painted above the engine exhaust. The original U.S. markings were over-painted with Soviet camouflage paint and then red stars were applied. I decided to keep with Larry's original skin by not having red stars on the wing tops.

You (and others) have gotten very good at that realistic wear and patina look.
