Looking forward to getting back into AH.
One thing I am anticipating is facing only pilots who have 100's if not 1000's of hours experience. Any fighter kill will be an achievement. Therefore Richthofen tactics :D
Makes AH alot less of an Arcade game :aok
If I personally had a flying log book it would run to several volumes.
A question though: I understand the BF109 got more kills than any other fighter but the most successful allied fighter was the Grumman F6 Hellcat ?

There may be a lack of total n00bs, but you will be facing a lot of elderly pilots with declining eyesight and reflexes :D :bolt:

Find a friend or frenemy who will play tag with you in the Training Arena to knock off the rust.
The Offline Missions offer practice against AI drones. You can set them to "real stupid" in Arena Settings for target practice.

Don't forget the crappy hearing!

And which setting or settings is this? AI usually overwhelms me within 10 minutes.

I think you will be dissappointed if you expact to find AH as you left it. Depends what you are looking for now risk-assesment seems to be more prevalant than really skillful flying. In Euro daytime there's usually the horde mentality rolling bases although loss of players has already made than more manageable. It was - at least the last time I flew - somewhat like the Furball Lake numbers used to be with indeed a bunch of people deepening the same groove they've been scraping for years. Still the odd good fight to be had against real people from time to time.

That's attributable more to real world circumastance than particular attributes in game. Maybe just pick something you find fun / challenging and leave it at that.

Sorry not clear. Hellcat in actual ww2 and BF109.
I tend to be USA time so will let you know but if I am honest I am a bit of a re en actor. I will train for Koth etc in the other arenas but I like to help the war effort in the MA. If people fly to survive I like that. Playing DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) changed my perspective as it takes so long to start your plane and get into the air then reach Normandy you want to live.
Also "Cliffs of Dover" ends your tour the first time you die and so back to zero. There is allot to be said for that as the style is allot less Kamikaze.
I want to fly WW2 style not arcade style. Practice off line or in the DA. Yes it makes it boring but there is still the DA.

If you see my 38J in the air and not stuck in a tree, come shoot me down. My controls are all old and worn and I usually have several frozen margaritas in me.
