Title: Slid off runway
Post by: 1Cane on December 01, 2024, 07:10:06 PM
At V56 touched down on runway below 100mph gear up in P47M. Slid all the way down runway doing a 360 and shedding wings, instead of slowing I would say it accelerated. This has happened before 2x in tempest. Was using DX11 :bhead :bhead

Use the wheels?
Every video of civil aviation planes landing gear up has them sliding a lot further than they do now in Aces High.

I'm guessing you can still get slung off the back of the carrier when backing up too then?
Make sure you pull your hook up, that's only happened to me if I dont do that.

Curious to see a film of this.
In some films I've seen GVs go below terrain surface. It's not like that in game, but in films. Now I'm wondering if that funk effects the friction that would slow a plane down. Or if it's just an illusion in films

Here is an old one that I recorded:

If you use the same landing speed with wheels down, does it still happen?
I've never experienced it with wheels down landing, ever. Just when sliding in gear up.

Post a AHFV file. You can edit the size in fb if you don’t want to post the whole file.

Drive a jeep down the runway in question and check if you notice “ground coming up” maybe covering the bottom half of the jeep.

Sometimes when the throttle is pulled all the way back it seems like the throttle is still open a bit.
I have a rocker button for blade pitch. That seems to help.

Throttle location would make no difference since these happen in belly landings that destroy your prop. The acceleration you get is faster than you would even on full throttle takeoff. You can touch down at 100 and get catapulted to over 200 on level ground, which blows your plane up rather quickly. I'm pretty sure I have damage in every situation since I normally touch down on wheels if not damaged. Usually oil leak or radiator hit that has destroyed the engine. I think one off the runway may have been just out of fuel though.

Hmmm............I wonder if a ME163 can take back off with the skid on that runway?
