Title: The Battle of Kasserine Pass >?<
Post by: Animl-AW on December 15, 2024, 03:22:20 PM
Dunno if this has been done before. Just a thought.
This would be an event including both aircraft and tanks. It's also about Rommel "The Desert Fox".
This would also be a good excuse to get a desert in our maps.
The Battle of Kasserine Pass in Tunisia (18-22 February 1943)
The Battle of Kasserine Pass took place in 1943, when Field Marshal Erwin Rommel launched a German offensive against the Allies. The battle was a major defeat for the inexperienced US ground forces, who faced off against the German Panzer IV and Tiger tanks. The Germans were able to get through Kasserine Pass, but the offensive was eventually halted by the arrival of Allied reinforcements and the Germans' own command problems.
The Germans used the 10th and 21st Panzer divisions to push back the Allied forces from the Eastern to the Western Dorsale. The Americans concentrated their strength at Tebessa, but the Germans attacked through the Kasserine Pass to capture supplies and protect the German-held coastal region.
Axis forces: German Bf 109 German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 German Stuka German Panzer IV tanks German Tiger tanks
Allied forces: American P-40 Warhawk American P-38 Lightning American B-25 Mitchell American M3 light tanks American M4 Sherman tanks

Dawn of Battle Scenario.
Was a fun and challenging scenario. Would do it again.
Made a tongue in cheek film.
Inspired by Army cartoons and changed the lyrics to Rommels song

Awesome video Kermit!
Don't think I've seen that one or maybe I have.
That was a great event!
I flew the P-40E in the 33rd FG.
Not a bunch of kills but great fun.
That was 2008.

After 25 yrs, I’m assuming the gun fight at the O K corral is the only event not done, yet.
I catch the vibe that re-runs seem to be frowned upon. I think some of the best of the best could be a consideration, in case we get lucky and get new or return blood that never got to be in them. I know numbers may dictate that tho. Just a fleeting thought.
