Title: Getting film viewer to convert to AVI
Post by: horble on December 15, 2024, 06:47:20 PM
How do you guys get it to work? I'm trying to save a selection as a 1080p 30 frame avi (multiple files enabled) and I keep getting a "Start record returned error code -1" error and all that gets saved is a .wav file that is broken.

Years ago I got it to work once, I think it had something to do with the output format.

Most people use OBS Studio or Geforce screen capture software. Run the film, run the capture software, output it as an mp4 and your all set.

Screen capture is the way to go for several reasons, even if it was working correct. Chances are changing the codec would probably help, but ya just can't pull off certain tricks unless you use a SC.

Aside from mentioned above, I use Bandicam and use the adjustable rectangle on screen, which also puts both sets of controls in view.

Fair enough, I've had some success using shadowplay to record my shots. Just need to give them a couple extra seconds at the start for me to get into full view and I can trim that off in the editor.

OBS Studio here. Can use a hotkey and run the film viewer fullscreen.
