Sunday Night European Campaign in the SEA2
Sunday Jan. 5, 2025 3pm EST 8pm UTC
Duration 1.5 hours

Most of us know the story. Hitler
considered England a threat to his
plans for the conquest of Europe
and when she refused to negotiate
a peace, he decided to suppress or
conquer her. The first stage of
that plan called for air supremacy
over the English Channel and
southern England, to be followed
by landings of German troops
along the English coast.

The Battle of Britain, so famously
named by Winston Churchill,
raged in the air from July,
through mid September 1940.

Objective:
Axis: Bomb down P16 and/or A15 below
50%.

Allies:
Take off and Defend P16 and A15

Scoring allies win if points exceed Axis kills
1 engine plane-1 point
2 engine plane -2 points

Axis win if they can get A15 or P16 at or below 50%

Allies will have 5500ft airspawns
A15 will have a south and SE airspawns, P16 will have a South Spawn.
Axis will have 5000ft airspawns
A91 will have a North spawn, A95 will have a NW spawn
Ceiling 8K

**Tower radar is on for air traffic control
for both sides***
other then that there is NO RADAR.

i would like to thank everyone that participated this afternoon! it was a great time. the fights were fast and furious, although we did have some glitches. the Axis had to work hard but did manage to flatten the port at A16 and the town at A15. the Allies were like a hoard of flea's but if they had had better planes, it would have been a different story!
Logs are in ahevents.net/event logs/SEC Event to Display Logs for(https://ahevents.net/index.php/event-logs (https://ahevents.net/index.php/event-logs)).

we did end about with about 7 vs 7 at the height of the event, but we could always us more.

we did have some things to address, radar seemed to be an issue but we fixed that.

some people thought the spawns were TOO close. the ceiling seems to have worked out ok.

thanks again to everyone and please feel free to post and suggest how to make it better.

thanks again--Gary Davis aka jaeger1

Had a good time. Action was pretty constant, and seemed fairly balanced numbers wise. BoB's always seem to have good fighter action as long as the numbers are close. I was surprised the action was as good as it was for having less than 20 people total in there.

 :salute

Was enjoyable with some intense fights! The spawns were nice to get right into the action quickly. Although perhaps allied should be pushed back slightly given they were spawning almost on top of axis once they got in over the town. Reminded me a heck of a lot of old H2H with 5 or 6 on each side duking it out. Really too bad we couldn't haven't got another 10 players or so. I feel it will build up more as we have more of these. Not bad for the first run. Those darn pea shooters  :aok certainly draw out the fights. Perhaps start it a lil later on Sunday? Maybe 4 or 5.

All in all, I think you have the right idea, Jeager, for a fun AvA quick action type skirmish   :aok

it was fun. Bombers somewhat too tough and uncatchable, but overall heck of a fun tangling with fighters.
Let's do it again sometimes.

Thanks for your work organizing it.

For a similar set up maybe consider only having Stukas, 110s and 109 Es carrying ords? I can see how JU88s and HE111s might be tough for Spit and Hurri Is.

well im not sure how the ju88's and the HE111's were uncatchable. i got killed every time i dropped. its just that i had 3 bombers. i tried to use actual aircraft based on what was in our inventory.

next one will be the Allies bombing germany. that should make it better.

speed difference from Ju88 to hurri is about 20-30 mph depending on the speed. Ju88 we have is a post BoB model, same goes for He111, both are somewhat faster.
Secondary issue is a lethality, i dumped 2/3 of mag into a Hi 111 from 200 yards out, with no apparent effect :(

Rubber bullets are a thing. Should be looked into IMO, I plug planes with 50s cals and do very little damage that ends up getting me picked as I try to plug more and more ammo into them. It's the #1 thing currently aggravating me more than anything else in this game, 1st before everyone in their easy mode trainers. Not entirely sure what's going on. Shoot FD, I think you tried to kill me and put like 200 rounds in my 109e in a rope with those 303s and it did no damage at all. Lethality should be adjusted in 50s and 303s. Just stupid when 3 20mm cannons from pass kill you, but I gotta put 160 rounds in a plane over 4 passes to knock them down.

There was talk in the early days about .50 cal lethality. Don’t recall or I wasn’t around to see where it ended up.

.50 through wing guns in fight mode can be a challenge. If shooting outside of convergence your movement large will vary.you have to stay on target longer than nose guns with canons. On a buff you’re better off sawing a wing off. Convergence is everything with wing guns. Not that you don’t know this, just making a point. P-51s aren’t really easy mode planes, except for speed, but that recovers slowly.

I jump into a A5, D9 and especially at 262, it seems my kill rate takes off. 262, pretty much blow them out of the air almost at will with 2-5 rounds.

IMO spits have always been easy mode AC. LAs are kinda too.

Wing guns are a HO no no.

Yeah you are right about convergence. Another problem with 50s is, in real life if you had a oil leak, gas leak, rad leak, or other leaks from a P51 or 50 cal planes, you were more than likely toast and instantly going home or crashing. In AH, they continue to fly perfectly for 5 minutes and death ain't so scary, so if you don't kill them, they'll turn back around and help gang if they can. This makes the 50s weaker in video games than in real life IMO. It could honestly be a connection thing. I have rubbers in other games too. I use fiber and still have rubbers. There are times I just cannot believe the player has no damage.

But yeah flying with 50 cals is overall much harder than cannons. Every shot attempt matters and if it only take 1 or 2 passes vs 4-5. It makes a huge difference.
