We are in the planning stages of a memorial for our dearly departed C.O. knob. We plan on it being next week but, have yet to finalize the details. Thanks, PorkyPig.

Sorry for your loss Dickweeds. Never knew knob but he clearly was doing something right to get that squad together for your weekly bombing runs. Always love watching those missions run, reminds me of the old old days. Hang tough and keep the metal rain coming :rock :salute

Standing by for orders. If it's on DHBG's normal squad night and time, I'll be there.. or the weekend.
Brings back memories of my former bomb group partaking in CO Vega's memorial flight..

Our squadmate OneWay found this oral history of Knob sharing his experience as a young Marine CH-53D helicopter pilot during Operation Urgent Fury, the resue mission to evacuate medical students from the island of Granada in 1983. It's a gripping story. <S> Knob! RIP!

From EZglider, CO DHBG: The DHBG will fly a memorial flight to honor our recently departed Commanding Officer Knob (Major Doug Doerr, USMC ret.) on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 2100 EST (9pm). All Aces High pilots are invited to participate. We will be flying in B-17Gs in the default skin and F4U-1Ds in the VMF-351 skin as escorts. Your choice of ride. We are trying to arrange for the flight to occur in one of the Special Events Arenas. More info on that once it's finalized. The flight will be recorded and posted on youtube for his family and friends to view at a later date. :salute

My condolences to your squad and to his family. I watched the full video and it was great story. I bet Knob was a pretty awesome CO.
