Totally fed up with the gang bangs of pansies and milk runners.
I just log off, played one night this week, pretty soon I'll be down to no nights this week.
I don't care about excuses, it makes the game suck.
i just watch people login then log off.
5-1 every single day is too old to care about.
This crap where "we all get our turn" is nonsense, ya get it one of 8 nights and call it even. <smh>

Grouch.
I think of it as an extra challenge. I get to fly midwar planes against people in better planes, but with less experience. Generally that culminates in my demise, but it's a fun process.
Glad we have people to fight.

Pretty much why you haven't seen me on. And God forbid you fly a BnZ plane into a mess like that and actually fly smart. Some people think you must recklessly throw your plane around and TnB every fight.
Pass.

I have always agreed with this, you know that. But almost nightly for months of 5-1 gets very old and stale. During that time we chatted one sentence on 200, 6 knits logged, 7 being me.its no better than milk running all day. They dump a whole country in one base each, there’s not fight there when its split fronts at 73-23.
Blahh, it got too old for me.

Sadly I agree and it worries me that should it continue, the entire game is in jeopardy.

Yes, its a legitimate concern.
Its mostly due to numbers below critical mass.
And as mentioned elsewhere, some know how to talk people out of playing out of one side of the mouth, concerned about numbers out the other side, oxymoron. The ones who complain the least are those trying to improve the game with projects.
I check the roster several times per day. I see 1-4 new/return players each time every day.
Its kinda kicking a gift-horse in the mouth.
There’s lots of variables and moving parts, all good humans, no one expects sainthood.
Until we get numbers up we have a big problem. Its catch 22. One pulls the other pushes.

Went back to country auto assign to do my part to try to balance the numbers..
HT gave us the fix, we just have to use it..
The fix:
Everyone is on auto assign..
Everyone fights to the death with landings and ditching frowned upon as one must die to be auto assigned to the lowest numbered side..
What a difference it'd make in the game..landing kills with one's ego in lights only for the newbie..

Older than that.
20 yrs ago ya would barely notice 50 players longing out. It wasn’t such a noticeable effect.
One country victim 8-9 times out of 10 will not sustain interest. I’m used to 3or5-1, and I’m logging. Top it off with one country only knows HOs, well,… have fun fighting weeds.

With you Eagler,
For the good of our game, would like to try the auto-assign option, but don't know how to resolve the Squad-killing nasty situation ? I have seen you ( and a few others ),come to a fight against superior numbers without fear or intimidation, giving the game a chance to keep actions alive. It's sad to see our numbers going down.... not sure what the solution is, but willing to help to find new players.... - ooora for the video makers in you tube -

At least 20 years ago there were enough players to support more than one or two "fights" on a map. So, at least you had options.

Great intensions, not sure it will help. You’re already on the side targeted the most.
Problem is, the other two will dump the entire country on one base against 5-8 defenders, or a whole country horde to milk run bases. Not sure they know how to fight outside a massive horde, its all they do, no horde they won’t fight.
Its not just a complaint, the whole country horde mentality is destructive in the wrong way.
We ARE bringing players in, we’re not retaining them. I’ve probably watch 30 slip right through our hands. Without asking them why, whats going on is absolutely not helping. They already have the learning curve, even return players have a hard time getting back into it, I did.
Once we pass 110 in the MA, the game settles back into the design. Once we hit 120 the game is kicking. We can’t get there if these dweeb actions are keeping it below 100.
What seriously pssses me off is we had it up to 200 last yr. And the the Skyyr disaster happened with another crew pulling them out the back door to another sim. That was allowed WAY too long. We lost the 40-60 we gained. We worked hard for that. Now I have this ptoblem in our way.
If you just have to horde, wait until there is 110-120 to cover it.
If we had 120-200 thus convo would not exist.
That drivel said, thanks to anyone willing to help the situation. Bad habits are hard the break.

Guess that is a main complaint..it breaks up squads..
I think they could benefit flying and fighting against themselves..and it'd help balance the game out..
Players won't do it either as for auto assign to work correctly you need to die almost every sortie if not every sortie so the game can move you as it needs to ..
But it would balance the sides and make it a more enjoyable game..I mean once one's ego can handle the change..
I am giving it a go again so if I am on your side and then fighting you the next sortie please accept my apology in advance..it's in an attempt to make the game better

Dale's answer to high eny = switch sides to balance the game
Dale's answer to 5 to 1 numbers during primetime 5 out of 7 nights a week = Switch sides to balance the game
When everyone does what they want the system becomes broken = the opportunity to GOAT my way through this time of unbalance and chaos.
-
If you haven't noticed. The majority of the players don't care about the game, gameplay, or anyone else. All the want to do is run players off in their horde, gang them to death in their easy mode top ENY plane, so they can bomb and take fields by themselves because "it's muh $15". And no one's saying you can't fly a tempest/262 into the horde and fly smart, but thats not what most are using those planes for. They are flying them IN the horde and making it even harder. I've watched players fly 262s when they have a 2-1 advantage of the fight. I see temps/262s all of the time in fights they dont need to be and thats what Im pointing out. Thats not good either and that is what I'm talking about.
And ohh btw, Skyyr and his crew were a perfect example of chasing players away in their 190Ds, TAs, and La7s, even when their side had the advantage. And I saw the massive drop in #s. And while sure they were within the rules of the game to fly them, it was the targeting that did it for me, and why I became so vocal. But again, they weren't doing the arena any favors either flying the easiest fastest cannon planes in the game.
-
How or what people fly doesn’t concern me. Watching log offs at prime time because they are burned out going 5+ to 1 with whole country hordes does. Its no diffetent than morning milk runs, which the same players complain about
What Skyyr and a cpl others did while flying was not as bad as the senseless gutless drama that came with it.
I’ll end with, if the power of suggestion doesn’t work nothing will.
If they do this all through summer just stick a fork in it.
-
The current game player base will kill this game before the game engine does.
It's getting pretty pathetic.
-
It didn't matter then as much then as it does now. We're at the warning's edge.
But, I predict they will excuse it all away and be obstinate into the abyss, then be shocked.
Tonight was just repeated of the last 5, or 10k. Didn't even move the needle.
I'm kinda just wasting my time promoting just to have a crowd come behind us and pork it all.
I'll leave my account running and play with it's finally not limp wrist night. But I'm not going to feed them kills and have bad night after bad night after bad night....that's not in my book of fun.
But please, continue, I have home projects I can finish.

Remember the Mid War Arena, a place where you could escape the mindless Late War Monster filled hordes?
This is why the loss of the MWA was so great, (the most competitive planeset almost perfect for great fights) its gone, along with the opportunity to to have a breather from the realty at all cost MA pace.

Yeah I think they should have tried to experiment with a little smaller map. I don't believe those arenas had map rotations and it was same Ndsisles map, which is okay, but gets old and is still IMO, had bases too far away for most mid war planes. The timing still was just too long to get into action. Had that map been Smog8 or something a lot smaller for quicker engagments, I think it would have been way more popular. Buy I completely agree that mid war planes are the overall best planeset for the best balanced fights.

Started off as a knight last night..next death I was a rook..stayed rook the rest of the hour as they were outnumbered..by a bunch..
Only had 2 other auto switchers and myself..
And you wonder why sides stay imbalanced?
Eagler
-
Side balance is not the problem when two pile on one country almost every night. If side balanced covered GBs Knits would need 60 when 30+30 come after you.
I heard a whine last night that we complain about no fights then when they fight us.
Well, when two countries each put the whole country in one horde you do only get too much fight or no fight at all because there is no middle ground, no gray area. You either get beat to crap or you get nothing. Ya, no gray area is a valid complaint.
What would even it out if I had my way, while all their eggs in one basket, I’d send 2 groups of 3 sets of B-29 with escorts a 30k and completely dump both strats to dust, If ya want to play dirty lets go full bore. Ya either break your front line coming after us or eat dirt trying to fly.

I thought this was only happening in the mornings. When did it start happening in prime time?
-
I thought this was only happening in the mornings. When did it start happening in prime time?
I'd say, in the end his is all a result of lower numbers.
Even at prime time, there are now often just two battles on the map, as each country apparently can often just muster enough pilots for one "blob", one centre of activity. So even with even numbers, there's a good chance one side has no real opposing force for some time. When numbers are uneven (which again happens more often and more volatile because of overall lower numbers), it's getting much worse, of course.
It's actually a pretty interesting phenomenon.

Small maps and only two sides with side balance enforced..
Boom! The game is fixed!
Are there any other ww2 flight sims with three sides?
Today's numbers don't support it imo

Sorry
But no.
It would get worse. Everyone would pile into one side, the sngle winning side.

There just needs to be areas on that map that provide more incentive to fight in an area. So that way areas on the other side of the map are worth more to attack which would spur battles on the other side. It would have to be coded, but its an incentive rather than force players to do something.
I actually like the way Merv/Finetime plays the game because it encourages people to roll to attack low bombers and spurs battles. A low set of bombers almost always encourages defenders to roll.

I am against auto-assign for everyone. Not a big fan of optional auto assign because of the damage it does to team play. Creates and air of independence. Not everyone enjoys being a team player so for them auto-assign is a good choice.
I have many, many good AH friends that are Rooks. Those that always stay in the same country have a higher-level team spirit. Very much like your favorite sports team.

You can't be afraid of killing your friends. That's just the way it is. Country loyalty is one of the killers of this game.
-
I love the auto-switch, I work hard no matter what country it puts me on. It takes some integrity though to not abuse it. I dont defend stuff that I know is in progress unless my team has noticed it on their own. I dont attack ships or let people know where they are unless they are actively attacking. Everything I do is for the better of the team I am on, but it still makes alot of enemies that cant comprehend it.
-
I enjoy auto switching as it allows you to team with and fight against everyone in the game..
You'd think the squad types would appreciate the opportunity to hone skills between themselves..
It's the ONLY tool HT has provided for the majority of us to change game play as we aren't map makers and can affect the game immediately ..
To each their own <S>

Back in the day, our squad used to split up to even the sides in the AvA. It was fun talking to each other on squad channel while we were in the middle of fighting each other.

Here is why Auto-Switch doesn’t work to solve gang banging one country, even with best if intensions.
Rook 26
Bish 30
Knits 36
Bish and Rooks GB Knits. Auto-Switch doesn’t see GBing it sees unequal sides. It will send you to Rooks, which literally adds to the GB issue, not to Knits who are the victim of it.
The problem is getting game play adjusted so that players don’t log off until they stop logging on.
The game is not designed for 100, its designed for 120 to 500. Get numbers up above 120. Thats when the game starts rocking.
Knits, when the gang bang isn’t in you and one front is quiet, don’t go waking up sleeping dogs by attacking undefended bases because they hitting rooks. You sometimes draw the problem right back to you. I warned about it, they did it anyway, it stopped the rook bish fight and brought it to you. We deserved it, we asked for it. Let a sleeping dog sleep. Makes it hard to make a point if we’re asking for it.
Focus on numbers. Some things solve themselves.
-
As far as switching side, thats personal preference.
I tend to like working with the same crew, sometimes you rarely need to chat, everyone knows what the others will do. Same thing with concert crews. Throw one odd ball in a seasoned crew, they don’t move or think like the rest, things and timeline is not moving right. i like my regular crew, we’re all in tune with each other. This is why squads have their positives. My crew in concerts, we pull off miracles every day because we are in tune with each other. I don’t have to ask how someone is using our time, I know what they are going to do. So I get it.
Solo has its own benefits too, go to other sides, meet other players, build the respect and general comradery. Events are great for humanizing each other as not just the enemy. I may snivel on 200 once in a while, but I know they are good people just playing the best they can.
Just IMHO

Speaking of numbers, the day there was a FTP option I'd add 4 players, me and one for each of my kids. We do have some great fun playing together on one of those other games. My 7 year old loves to charge at enemy tanks and amazingly he seems to survive most of the time. My 11 year old is the opposite and will ambush you every time.
Maybe FTP for high ENY planes and tanks with the option buy the rocket planes and high end tanks?
I get the feeling that the powers that be don't share your concern about the numbers though. I really do miss the game but not enough to pay $60 a month to play with my kids. I know most don't want to hear it but the subscription fee is a problem. Here's a couple recent comments on the game on steam:
Posted: February 14
"Many many years ago I used to pay for this on a monthly basis and absolutely loved it, Idk how they think they can sustain the same system in this day in age.
Poor graphics, poor gameplay and no playerbase because of the monthly pay system that is just out right ridiculous.
Make the game a one time purchase or let your community die because you have no respect for them."
Posted: February 27
AH2 was fun but this game is dead and they still want to charge you 15 a month to play, this isnt the early/mid 2000s anymore, AH and ww2ol need to drop their subscription based game and either make it free or charge once for it.

I started playing this game in 2010 when it was Aces High 2. I had friends I flew with. I've been in several legendary squads over the years such as the Blue Lagoon Bandits (BLB), Screaming Eagles, the 49th Fighter Group and JG 11. I met great people, learned to fly and fight and I was the very first pilot with the Goose callsign with 3 O's (Gooose). I used to average about 260 fighter kills a month but that was around 2013. I played every single day and paid for it every month. Loved it back then. Great population, the flight simulation was extremely realistic even despite the oldish looking graphics.
When AH 3 came, I was pretty excited to see what's changed, what's new, who would stay, who would go, etc. I was extremely disappointed with where the game had gone. The old days of talented skilled turn fighters and furballs were gone. Now it was everyone getting their kills on vulching and ganging, no skill, then they would troll you afterwards if you killed them, it just turned into a crap sandwich without the bread. I think the devs should have seen this coming honestly. There were plenty of signs when the great veteran pilots of AH's golden age were all leaving. They should have done something then. It's too late now and us old timers feel like we've lost something that was once precious to us. We even flew a huge memorial flight for ET37 when he passed away. That's how tight we all were as a community and all of that is gone now. Hitech Creations only cares about their money. Until that changes to bring people back to the game, I can't ever recommend AH 3 as a decent game.
I do hope the game survives as there is a lot of competition in the space and more coming. (I know it's the only one what can have 500 players simultaneously but it's been a long time since that has happened.)

So you dont like when getting ganged, but you chastise your teamates for fighting on a 2nd front? That means you are ganging yourself...

So you dont like when getting ganged, but you chastise your teamates for fighting on a 2nd front? That means you are ganging yourself...
I was just going to post this myself! :aok
To be honest, each team SHOULD fight both fronts. If even, thats 15 per team against 15 on all fronts with a 90 player population. I think there would be good fights on all fronts with a good challenge to take bases.
Unfortunately the majority of players dont want a challenge, dont want to fight but just pick and run, or HO in a temp or mossie. Its hard enough to pull a team from one front to the other after they have taken 25% of the other teams bases.
The players COULD easily fix this themselves but they wont.
-
So you dont like when getting ganged, but you chastise your teamates for fighting on a 2nd front? That means you are ganging yourself...
I think you missed my point. No I didn’t do that. Just warned what attacking a silent front would bring. It split our force to have to fight and lose two fronts. We were barely hanging onto one front. I was just being honest and not being biased. Sometimes its not always the other side. This loophole doesn’t justify anything. The masses still make a conscious decision. Its not a gold nugget.
It’s not worth a WOT. Something from nothing is still nothing.

Well thats the issue. In these gang bangs bish and rooks (just example) aren’t fighting each other at all. Not even one tiny fight. If all three fronts had battles this post would not be here. These are full blown 2 country to one GBs
Finetime used to switch to one of thise countries to bomb the ither just to get them to fight and create 3 front wars.
Basically my comment above was giving bish credit for not ganging and actually fighting rooks.

Auto assign and then fly towards the largest red dar bar..
Don't land your kills unless the numbers show you are still on the lowest side otherwise be sure to fight until YOUR death so the game can assign you as needed....score and ego be dammed lol..
It's really that simple..
If the veteran sticks were to do this then maybe their plane selections could lean towards mw and newbies might not get as frustrated..and stick around a bit longer..

I already explained why that doesn’t work, with math, UNLESS when you switch you start battles in the silent front of countries gang banging an not fighting each other, at all.
Explain to me how switching to a full country hording mass just to join them solves the problem.
When you switched it was to a country that was actually gang banging us and you were in the herd we had to fight. How did that help? Good intensions, bad iutcome?
-
Not that my opinion matters much..
I may snivel about some things, kick a trash can here and there, but I’ll always give credit when its due.
Easter primetime MA >IMO< was played as the game was designed. 3 good battles on all 3 fronts, approx average 31 players in each battle. Ya can’t blue print that kinda stuff. It would be great if that became the average norm, within reason.
-
One interesting increasing trend is those avoiding offensive attacks nearly 100% of the time.. Good for the score if you care about such things but not so good for the game. Still, it is your dime.
-
I’m definitely not a proponent of two countries but I’m also wondering why nobody tries to fight all three. Anytime there is a Bish/Knight full sector dar bar that is a reasonable distance away. I will fly to it and get the mix. I don’t see a lot of other people doing this. They’ll be a lot of times where this is happening a sector away and still, nobody will go get in the way.
I will even go AFK for a few if it’s farther than a couple sectors just to get in the mix. Usually I will only attack the attacking country, but that’s never guaranteed since everyone will come after me eventually anyway. Sometimes I come in way too high and fast and just turn into a dart the minute I get there which is always a chuckle for me and I’m sure for them too.
I highly recommend everyone else. Try to find more opportunities to get in the mix and have three country fights.
Perhaps our map makers should start taking this into consideration when they make new maps and update old ones. Build more concentrations where it’s easier for the three countries to get mixed up.
-

Possibly good for kill ratio but terrible for score, half the scoring is offensive damage related

How do players feel about two countries battling one country?
Knits were under two country attack during the day yesterday. Then Rooks were being attacked by the Knits and Bish during prime time. Hoarding was going on for sure but as a Rook, when we could hold off both countries pushed game pace really high.

Last night before my quest disconnected me, auto assign as a knight you couldn't buy a fight..

Its the nature of the game, each side is trying to win and will take the easiest route to capturing bases. If you are good at defending against two nations then your team stands a much better chance of winning the map when the numbers swing to your favor. Each side has a prime time.
I am typically fighting an entire team by myself while the rest of the team is busy on the other team. While I'm not capturing anything I am being extremely effective in keeping the bases we do have. I've been killing you alot lately as a side switcher on the lowest team getting double teamed...

What am I missing? when you auto switch you go to team with fewest player not the most. Never have a problem finding a fight. I take pleasure in attacking teams who have 22% your fields and only 70% theirs.

I have never heard of this game until I just saw someone post about it in a War Thunder thread on Twitter, so I came to check it out.
A few questions:
1. What is a milk run?
2. I am well acquainted with fighting outnumbered. I've been outnumbered by as much as 7 to 1 in War Thunder realistic battles and still won. But is there an area where new players can learn the game without being dropped in the grease from the outset?
3. How many people are allowed in a squadron? Is that the primary source of the one-sided battles?
Thanks in advance for any answers,
Gomez

Welcome Gomez.
1. Milk run is a mission, usually in bombers, to get "perk points" that deliberately avoids combat by targeting a remote area of the map or flying at very high altitude. The milk runner doesn't really contribute to his team's success, only to his own.
2. There are training areas, but are usually unpopulated. Try logging on during prime time (Eastern Time evenings) to avoid being outnumbered. Most players are happy to offer help with the technical and strategic aspects of the game.
3. Maximum squad size might be 32... or something.
Lots of good info at Fugitive's Help Page: http://75.138.186.96:8080/Aces_Help/Aces%20Help%20Page.html

Thanks!
I'll check that out.

Thanks!
I'll check that out.
Keep in mind, some have been here or from AW for 25-30 yrs. If you have any questions someone has the answer in most related subjects. Just ask. Some serious seasoned sim vets and techs here.
If ya need info on the game Fugitives site covers a lot and in the forum. If it windows system related you can check out my AH Tech Hanger and of course Tech Support forum. AH will run very well on older computers too. You can be playing in 10 secs
The Flight Model is based on true physics.
Plenty of special events.
Training is available
Best way to see if you like the sim/game is to jump in, take the two week trial.
Welcome

LOL!! That might have been me! I was posting on one of their "commercial" posts that Aces High is a far better game than DCS and WarThunder.
Welcome to Aces High!
Popeye is correct on his answers to you, but Squad size IS 32, not "err something" :P
Like he said training arenas are hit or miss for players.
Best advice I can give you is when you logon,
bring up the roster, and at the top of that page click on the "Squad" button.
That will sort the list by squads.
Scroll down the list is look for which squad has the most players on at that time. (Tonight you'll see alot of "SikPuppies" on, my squad)
Right click on one of those players name and click "go to". This will move you to the same area he/she is in (as long as they are on the same team as you)
Then fly with them. Ask what they need, bombs, fighters, what ever. As you work with them they will try to cover you. If you let them know your new they will more than likely help you. They may not save you everytime, but they may give you a bit more time to survive and learn a bit more. Remember everyone of us had a few hundred deaths before we started getting any kills!
Dont be afraid to ask questions, both here and in the game. Most players are helpful. Again, Welcome to Aces High!

Milk running is also used when people a group of people capture undefended bases

Go to match play, pick a plane, and then hit the directional button on the clipboard. N, S, E, W. This will put you in an area with some AI who will try to engage you. This IMO, is the best place to practice and get everything set up. Welcome, and this game is probably much harder than WT, so don't get discouraged. On Monday, there is Monday Night Madness in special events at 8 est. Its great for quick fights and no pressure. Give that a shot if you can.

That's not a milkrun.. that's people chosing not to fight.

I've been outnumbered by as much as 7 to 1 in War Thunder realistic battles and still won.
Since I've played both games and IL2 I thought I might be able to help some.
-If you get in a 7 to 1 here and you're not B&Zing lower guys or in a 262 there's a very good chance you'll end up dead.
-I suspect the biggest challenge you will have is programming your controllers here.
-I think you will find the game pretty easy compared to WT sim battles as you don't have to manage trim as there is an auto trim setting, there are no engine/prop controls and you don't have to worry about overheating your engine.
-There are icons that come on when an enemy is 6k from you and stays on the whole time he is within that range so there's no ducking behind a hill or tree to hide because the icon doesn't go away.
-The damage model is different in that some planes appear to fly faster when missing a wing and that your engine won't degrade of time when damaged. For the most part it will run at full power until it over temps from damage or the oil pressure goes to 0 and it stops.
-You can't buy planes but there are some planes that you need to save up points to fly.
-The built in comms are used a lot and allow players that are not in squads or on discord to contribute to your SA.
-In my experience about 50% of the players in WT are either new or very lacking in ACM skill. I would not expect that in AH. In my experience you will run into a couple different kinds of players here that make it different.
1: Will only fly in a group and will only attack when they have the numbers and the alt advantage.
2: Single pilots who do the same.
3: Will engage you at any alt, speed or numbers. (these guys are getting fewer and and fewer these days but they are the most dangerous and will most like take your lunch money)
To get up and running quickly I would suggest:
-Download the game and setup your controllers. Once you get that done there is an option to fly offline with drones circling the base that won't attack you. This is a good way to figure out the gunnery model.
-After that there are offline missions you can download and fight AI. This will help you get used to the flight model.
-Once you are able to fly and shoot I would start the 2 week trial and give it a go.
Hope that helps. Good luck!
