CVWAR
Looking for Comments? Criticism? Praise even?
NOE missions for new players anyone? Hopefully NEVER against a base with an ongoing CV battle.
I’m severely color blind so if anyone wants to take a crack at a better green overlay for the landmass, sing out before it goes into rotation.
Couple of hours for final verification of spawn directions, and with a cloud file, it’s done short of comments review.
Thanks
The link to a full size 4.43MB 2048x2048 png is here in the Terrain forum. The final terrain upload will not have the bases numbers etc.

I’ve always wanted more island/cv heavy maps considering we really only have 1 or 2 in rotation, so this looks awesome to me

Looks like fun! Thanks!
I was thinking last night as I took off from a 5k field..what about all bases on mountain tops with the lowest field at 5k going all the way to like 15k..it would be like an airstart..
Valleys and canyons below the fields..
Is that possible?

Nice to see a new terrain.
All those islands and shoreline fields have a potential for lots of feet-dry LVT spawns. Kenai knows how to defeat them, if you want to.
Thanks for all the effort! <S>

Thanks for the encouragement gentlemen!
I'm expecting to talk to Kenai/Jimmy later today so I'll ask him about that. Thanks.

Small pizza comes close to that.
The original 512 Pizza terrain was exactly that. If I remember right, most of the bases were above 4k with the strats close to 10k. It was "meant for high altitude fights" according to the squad-mates that built it. At the time, my impression was that it was both loved and hated by large swaths of the players. I don't think that terrain would ever work with today's numbers.

I saw the arena easy started to try and download. It with the servers it would have taken me a while to get the map. I will look it up and download when I do not want the itch to fly and shoot someone

That's a valid observation and I should have led off with that information. The current download shows 2:40 total time. While still working on a terrain, it makes sense to leave some of the tools and utilities in the upload to help verify we experience the same things on the host that we see offline. These are removed in the final submission.
In way of explanation, when creating a new terrain, I use dozens of tools to help verify things and the clipboard map stays as an RGB bitmap until the final version when it usually becomes a much smaller 256 indexed bitmap. There are such useful things as one or more of the skyscrapers we have in Monday Night Madness that I use to help find things I need to verify during the build process. In this case things like the arc of fire for shore batteries, the start point, end points and intermediate points for roads and railroad tracks. The map room for locating GV spawn points.
I also use multiple large custom terrsets during development, for different purposes, sculpting hills, valleys and cliffs or touch up for shorelines. Also for verifying colors needed for exporting and importing splat maps used to set terrain tile types. These terrsets are large but temporary and are used one at a time during development. For instance, if you’d downloaded the terrain at a particular point in time, you would have seen every 660 foot yellow terrain square outlined in black lines and the braking fold angles drawn from corner to corner. This gives you a sense of scale when looking at the cliffs and rolling hills.
KONG, thanks you work on that issue. Kenai passed along your document and I’ve sent him a bitmap you might find useful for towns during development.

maybe ill test it out using monday Night Madness. we can start out by finding the Carrier and then ill move the close together so we can have our battles.

I have always enjoyed the CV battles when the spring up with the larger maps in the MA. Always feel a little urgency to protect my boat.

you should see the one terrain i have with about 25 carrier and battleship groups in it. you could reproduce the entire pacific war with just that one terrain! LOL!!
