Title: 1st day back
Post by: caldera on May 24, 2025, 02:08:33 PM
And I have a few questions.

1. When is a good time to encounter airborne fighter opposition?

I took two sorties so far.  First one found 30k bombers.  Next one went to an enemy port with multiple fighters on patrol.  When I got within the dar circle, they bugged out to their CV and never came back.

2. How does HTC remember my IP address, but not the 70k fighter perks I had saved up?  Even my achievements were erased.
I wouldn't even use them.  I just liked having them.  This makes me a sad panda.

Welcome back!

Between 8 and 10pm eastern is usually the best time for action in MA

During off hours, you'll have to just try to get into trouble. Sometimes there's a squad trying to capture a field. That is when you roll defense and try to knock them out. Usually you get bust up some bombers and a couple of porkers if you play your cards right.

The best time to play is around 6-11pm. That's when most squads are working their attacks. Normally defense is the best way to find action. It's not always the easy route though, however you can get kills much more quickly at times.

I have the ability to get shot down within 10 minutes regardless of roster.

Like others have siad, evenings eastern time. Friday night before FSO is a good time because the FSO guys come in to warn up.

Unfortunately that is what you will find more often than not. There are not as many players who like to mix it up any more.

I think HTC does a "flush now and then. They hold name and the stuff assigned to them for awhile in the hopes they will come back and reactive their accounts. But they do flush the name to free them up now and then. Im not sure the timing of the clean outs, but you may have got caught up in one of those.

The type of flying kinda depends on time of day, for whatever reason.

Daytime kinda dweebie
Masses start to build 7p CT (6p ET), peaking about 8p-8:30p CT (7:30pET) not as dweebie. 95-120 players.

9p CT (7p MT) there is another shift change, lil better fights as not many huge hordes. Mountain Time players come in during their prime time slot.

We had some great battles later last night, then realized only 66 players at 10:30pCT.  Nice wide front.

Best use of the $15/mo in my opinion. FSO gets the adrenaline pumping more than anything else, aside from scenarios. But it does take some getting used to, shorter icon ranges, more tactical planning, but no shortage of combat for 2 hours.  :aok

I really loved FSO back in the day when it still had massive numbers. I wasn't so sure about it the last time I flew it with an hour 1 thing and an hour 2 thing. Maybe I just needed more time to get used to the new format.

We do what we can to keep it fun. Nothing will compare to the days of old with 500 pilots in there, 1 life events, trying like hell to make it to the end with even a kill or 2 was such an accomplishment.

Yah, it’s not the same as it was. But with the numbers we have, we instill the extra life’s to keep the combat flowing and keep it engaging for the entire 2 hours. T+30 launches are becoming more normal and popular. T+30 typically gives a less favorable option of aircraft compared ti what you started with at T+0 but it gets you back in the action. T+60 will typically give you a better ride compared to T+30 but maybe still not as good as T+0 which gives you an incentive to keep your original ride for the entire frame if it is one of the superior aircraft on the battlefield.

We keep the bombs falling and the fighters fighting, always a great time at FSO and we are always looking for more players.

Thank you all for the welcome.

So far, I've managed to dodge three attempted vulches, got one maneuver kill and a proxy.
Along with getting clobbered a whole lot. :ahand

Thanks for explaining that. I only flew it a couple times in the new format and didn't really know what was going on.
