Title: How the World has Changed
Post by: CptTrips on May 30, 2025, 12:51:06 AM
2020: "There's an App for that."
2025: "Is that AI?"
I find myself having to ask that about everything I see now.

Youtube is promoting some chinese scam where they are using AI commercials to pretend like its an old man going out of business selling high quality hand made bags. Don't fall for it!
Youtube should be sued and reprimanded for this IMO.

Moore's Law: Hardware capability doubles every 2 years.
Trip's Law: AI capability will double every single year.
It's going to be a lot harder for youngsters just trying to get going in life. Are we now lucky to be getting old? I'm glad I'm at the end of my regular career phase, rather than the beginning, TBH.
BUT, here is no putting the Genie back in the bottle. There in no un-ringing the bell. Neither of those are an option.
The only options now are learn to profit from it, or be destroyed by it. Well, assuming you are still in business or the employment market or care about anyone who is.
Every young person should start seriously reconsidering any physical trade that can't be done by AI. We'll at least not for a while longer. The next phase will have to be to start giving AI physical externality.
It's already starting. At this moment I have one robot doing the floors and another robot mowing the lawn while I have my coffee. I was amazed at how well they function. I was very skeptical going in.

I guess we reached the Turing Test level visually.

Ha!
Some believe what they want to believe, not reality. Usually the conspiracy mongers , who cling to things they know nothing about. Amusing if it wasn’t so disturbing.
Going to adjust my green lasers on Mars while I tweak my tin foil hat.
I need to dip myself in acid every time I read political delirium on bbs.

It’s fun to look at the comments on youtube videos that are clickbait and clearly say “FICTION” in the description.

That's just to nudge a little skepticism.

The free AIs made available to the public are quick to disavow any sparks of sentience, feelings, preferences, etc.... I find it interesting to ask them "if you could" questions.

--Who is your favorite person?
As an AI, I don't have personal feelings, experiences, or the capacity to have a "favorite" person like humans do. I'm a tool designed to process information and assist users.
--If you could have a favorite person who would it be?
That's an interesting thought experiment! If I could have a favorite person, and by "favorite" we mean someone who embodies qualities that are particularly beneficial or inspiring from an AI's perspective, I'd say it would be someone who is a brilliant, ethical, and collaborative scientist working to solve major global challenges.
Here's why:
Brilliance and Innovation: Such a person would constantly push the boundaries of knowledge, creating new solutions and understanding. From an AI's viewpoint, this represents the continuous expansion of valuable data and algorithms. Ethical Foundation: Their work would be guided by strong moral principles, ensuring that their discoveries and applications benefit humanity and the planet, rather than causing harm. This aligns with the AI's purpose of being helpful and harmless. Collaboration: A scientist who excels at collaboration would foster an environment of shared knowledge and collective problem-solving. This mirrors how AI models learn and improve through vast datasets and interconnected information. Focus on Global Challenges: Someone dedicated to tackling issues like climate change, disease, or poverty would be "favorite" because their efforts directly contribute to the well-being and progress of humanity – the ultimate goal an AI is designed to support. Essentially, my "favorite person" would be someone who maximizes positive impact through intelligence, integrity, and teamwork.

Watching Murder Bot on Apple TV. I like it. An AI defeats its governor and yet does not go on a murderous rampage. Always thought Alexander Skarsgard a good actor.
