Title: Convergence
Post by: Slade on June 13, 2025, 12:52:58 PM
Guys,

I know the axiom, "set your convergence to what range you intend to shoot from".  Also, I know diff ammo types (cannons vs MGs) have diff characteristics.  I am not looking in that context for the answer to something for the moment please.

If I have say an LA7 and set the convergence to 600, while all the projectiles will converge on 600, does it factor in the Y (vertical) axis in the projectiles?

I am wondering, cannons vs MGs aside, will my projectiles shoot straight enough to hit anything from 300-600?

EDIT: I am wondering if Y (vertical) axis is factored in, would that make my my shots between 400-500 basically be too high etc.

Thank you,

Slade  :salute

vertical drop is factored in, its the biggest reason so many have a hard time hitting with the 30m. The round is so heavy and travels slow enough that the drop is tremendous.

For convergence I always say film a few fights in that plane. Watch the film and when you get hits, check the range of the target when you fired. Set your guns to that range and try to mimic the same lead as the film. You'll find you will hit more often as that is when your brain see's the site picture and fires.
