Title: Fligjt Sim Expo 2025
Post by: fuzeman on July 19, 2025, 10:33:57 AM
Just wondering if AH had a presence there this year?
I have an assumption on the answer but would like to know.

I always thought it would be cool if HTC put together a booth/tent for airshows. Computer, HOTAS, monitor, tent, a couple folding chairs and small tables. He could rent space at each of these shows, and frate the stuff from show to show having some volunteers from the game to man them and try to get people into the game.  :x

It all depends on where these conventions are held. Hotel ballroom or conversion center, the price for a space for a booth can get very expensive. Because you may profit from that space they want their share for providing it, space is finite.

A normal size booth space on McCormick Place in Chicago for some events is $25k. I'm sure there are MUCH cheaper places as McPlace is an extreme money pit. If you're not already established with money, good luck on that gamble to get enough biz to pay for it.

With the event mentioned in the OP, it was $750 for a 10x10 area with a table, two chairs and a backdrop.

Well, not to discredit the game. But most who get booth space have something new in future to offer. Depends on the approach I guess.

Like I’ve probably insinuated a few times. If you setup where the graphics can be A and B’d  with modern game graphics you’re just not going to be the attention grabber as games are all about graphic realism. Some are more interested in graphics over actual game play.

Not arguing, just devil’s advocate.
I always fall back to nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Agreed, my comments were from "back in the day" when AH was THE WWII sim. A lot more competition these days and unfortunately far to many people place "graphics" over "game play" these days. I could be a hard sell at a show these days.

Couple of strippers in cropped AH t-shirts and free beer would enhance the booth..

And replicate the game environments, at least regarding the beer.

That's not funny,... they actually do that. It's not a stupit idea. I actually dated a model from a medical booth setup. Met here because I had to mic her up every day with a lav mic, which means my hand are all over the body ;) . Turns out she was in "The Fugitive" (and a few others) and model for Bacardi.... . Ya wanna see some real high end models, go to a pharma convention. They max that idea out. You won't care what they are selling, you'll buy it all.

It's not a bad thing that we keep thinking. Any port in the storm.
