I bought a simfab flight seat for AH and am now putting it together. Does anyone have one of these and if so
how did you configure it (pix would be nice). I want to see some configs before I get too far along
on it.
Thx :salute,

Here are pix of the flight rig I'm putting together!
I haven't been able to work on it as I want to but it is almost there
just have finish the cabling.

I built my own years ago. Used an 8 way powered seat from a Chrysler Cordoba :devil

I wonder if I have any other pictures?

I used mine for a 3-4 years or more. My wife is a "accountant" and used to always do the taxes. It was funny seeing her climb into the simpit and I would place a tv tray or two depending on what she needed and she would be in there until she finished them off. I should have taken pictures! :D
I sold it for $100 bucks to a guy that use to work part time with us.

Ramesis, that is over the top!

Here is my current rig which happens to use SimFab.
This is an older photo.
I replaced the Reverb G2 with a Quest 3.

Sheesh. And I thought my weight bench tilted up for my chair, A VKB Gunfighter to the right of my monitor and a STECS mini throttle to the left along with an iPad with MLBTV playing so I can watch while climbing out was the bee's knees. That's pretty amazing. I don't see a cup holder or place to keep beef jerky however.

That's nice but can you use it if your head is under vr?

Thats what I was wondering. He has all those cool buttons and switches with lights and those mini screens. Then he puts on a VR headset and cant see any of it.
-
There is also a TrackIR thing on the top of the screen. Why can't he have both?
Also as a VR user, it isn't hard to know where your buttons are with the headset on.

My thoughts exactly.

The quest 3 and others are mixed reality capable. You can see through defined areas or on command. How well that works is unbeknownst to me.

Hmmm can you see through clothing? :rofl I may have seen these in the back of a comic book back in the 60s.

Normally, I fly by brail. I have key reference points: the corners of the panels, unique switches, etc.
In low pressure situations, that works plenty well enough.
When panicked, it becomes a little riskier: either taking too long to find a vital switch or inadvertently pressing the wrong button.
If I get desperate, I can peek through the nose of the headset.
I fly certain aircraft all the time, so muscle memory works extremely well for those.
The complex startup sequences are fast and easy despite being blind-folded.
Sometimes, two things on opposite sides need to be activated at the same time, which can't be done with a mouse interface, but is easy when I have physical controls and map them in such a way as to mimic the physical position displayed in VR.
I primarily fly VR, but when I want to enjoy the MFD screens, TrackIR is the way to go.
At one point, I had set up the third party VR kneeboard software to put a magenta rectangle around the cockpit and programmed Virtual Desktop to apply passthrough to any magenta areas. At the press of a button I could toggle between VR and VR with passthrough.
It worked really well, but it interferes with stock DCS files for every single aircraft which compromises file integrity, limiting the ability to only join multiplayer servers with file integrity checks disabled.
The MFD displays are automatically disabled in VR, but a simple file hack allows them to function, but that comes with a performance cost.

Nothing like yours streakeagle but I use a combo of Streamdeck, Streamdeck Virtual, and Helios on my touch screen. Works well.

The beauty of using digital displays for cockpit instruments is the ability to reconfigure to any desired aircraft.
But it comes at the cost of the tactile feel and would be nearly impossible to use in VR without pass-through or peeking through the nose.
My dream solution is to have multiple front panels and side panels for various aircraft that can be easily attached to fixed frames.
The SimFab setup makes this possible: I can quickly swap out my Hornet throttle for an F-16 throttle: just loosen two large knobs to remove the Hornet throttle, slide on the F-16 throttle, then tighten one knob.
Unfortunately, most panels I would like to have don't exist and I have gotten too lazy to fabricate my own.
I am real close to having a dedicated F-4 Phantom simpit.
But I have been lazy about engineering a mechanical interface to get the throttles mapped into an old Thrustmaster Warthog throttle controller.
