Title: New Way to Finance the Game
Post by: AKKuya on October 08, 2025, 10:41:11 PM
The goal of getting the game into the players' hands is very daunting.  Several million dollars to buy and more to hire a team of programmers for maintenance and new features, plus marketers to promote the game to the multitude.

Many ideas have been floated and could work, provided they get traction.

This idea is aimed at the top performers. The players who excel at flying ACM, bombers, tankers, and gunners.  They are good at filming their exploits.

They will need to be great on camera and exhibit over the top personalities.  Showmanship with style is critical.

It's time to get Aces High on the platform OnlyFans.

Monthly subscriptions will skyrocket.  Cash flowing in.  Ka-ching!

No judgements should one of you daring content creators boldly perform in your birthday suit or French Maid outfit.

Don't take it personally, I won't be a subscriber myself.  I know you'll do good.

 :D

Flying buff will take on new meaning… so will his gun is facing your direction:-)

I've actually pumped money into some of my YouTube Aces High videos to try to help advertise.

I think that marketing to previous players would be easier and would have a higher rate of return then trying to recruit brand new players. WW2 online used to have those "welcome back soldier" things where old players could play full account access for free for a limited time in addition to the FTP account and seemed to bring in lots of numbers back in the day.

Makes sense.. try and set the hook again.

Unfortunately I think we would need an influx of A LOT of players to create an atmosphere better than when they left the first time.

I've listened to the impression left on a couple of old returning players... it isn't good.

Offer 10-15 Planes for a free account, but it has ads. Ad pops up at the beginning or it's overlayed over the game somewhere.

Who will book advertising in such a minor niche game? And at what price?

Best way to increase revenue is to promote everywhere you can. We’ve proved it has effects. The trick is retaining them. Too much drama on bbs and 200 has proven to chase them out, at the time we did it. We got it up to 160-200. Unfortunate events here scared off 15-25.

May charge 20 a month and use 5 bucks of that for advertising.

One problem I see with getting back lots old players is that half of them have passed on unfortunately  :pray

Just raise the price back to $29.95...

You could lose half the remaining base and still make the same..

I double-dog dare you.   :rofl
I'm not saying it isn't reasonable, i just doubt it is feasible.

Quote
To estimate “what $15 in the year 2000 is worth today,” we adjust for inflation using the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI).

### ✅ Quick Answer (as of 2025):

**$15 in 2000 ≈ $28–$30 today**

More precisely:

* From 2000 to 2024, cumulative inflation is about **~95%**
* So:
  [
  15 \times (1 + 0.95) \approx 15 \times 1.95 = 29.25
  ]

By 2025, it nudges slightly higher, so **around $30** is a reasonable approximation.

---

### 📌 What This Means

Something that cost **$15 in 2000** would cost **about $30 today** just to buy the *same thing* — your purchasing power has roughly **cut in half**.

---

In other words it'd be like them charge $7 in 2000.  They obviously knew that wasn't financially viable in 2000.  $15 was as low as they could responsibly go.  No wonder it doesn't justify additional effort.  As sad as that is, I do see the logic.

If you’re talking about advertising on tv the gain didn’t cover the cost of it. Its suppose to surpass the cost. The 1m you possibly spend could have updated the game and it sell itself with simple promotions.

Again, drawing them in and retaining them would probably depend on graphics.

Only 3-10% were retained.

So, IMO, the graphics must be modern graphics before gambling in tv advertising.

As some may have noticed, a lot of games went the tv route years ago, most pulled out, you rarely see them now for the same reason.

Update and spread that word on every internet place you can the word of those interested would travel word of mouth and if you are successful then MAYBE gamble in tv ads.

Bubble popper, I know.

If you drew in 40,000 at $15 you are only hitting $600k, that 1m is 400k under water.. aAnd that is if they make it past 2 weeks and subscribe.

IMO, it might be better if put into the game, and thats still a gamble, but maybe better results.

Fleeting thoughts, if you had 1m and wanted to advertise too maybe 500k on update, 500k on ads. A loose example. But 1m into game may be better, DCS, WT, IL-2 don’t advertise, that I know of, maybe short term ads to get the word out.

All IMO

Never played it but does mine craft have vga graphics for?

Isn't it so great they even made a movie about it?

I don't think graphics are the issue most want to think it is...it's the monthly sub, it is outdated imo..

Do you believe half would stick around if the other half suddenly disappeared? Seems unlikely to me.

I’m not paying twice the price I’m already paying to play a 25 year old game that’s had no development in 8 years.

I was just joking ...I  really think $4.95 is more accurate but I'd take a huge influx just to stay where he's at now..

Battlefield 6: 747,000 concurrent players. Not primitive graphics.

3 of the top 4 there are free to play. I bought PUGB several years ago so not sure how they are qualifying that.

Is there a monthly subscription?

AH is limited to a 5 year span of expired war technology which limits its audience imo..

Is there a monthly subscription?

It is included in their EA Play Pro subscription service I think.

But natively it is a buy-once play forever.  There are usually a mixture of official company servers and many customized player run servers.  Take your pick.
They will then periodically release expansion packs with more maps and weapons.  You don't have to buy those.

I prefer that personally.  You don't give anyone a dime until they FIRST have produced something.  Which means they don't get paid if they don't produce.

That's why I finally got smart and don't pre-order anymore.  :rofl  I wait until they have a product released and I check the reviews and I buy if what they are offering AT THAT POINT is worth what they are asking for.  I don't buy on future promises or wishful thinking of fantasy features someday.  It doesn't have to be perfect.  It just has to be worth the asking price at that moment in time, and if they ever improve from there, sauce for the goose.

Would a very attractive woman being filmed playing Aces High create a fanbase?  She becomes a subscriber and interacts with the player base.  Subscribers to her channel become AH subscribers to interact with her.

The simple solution is a mailing letter to all the emails on file. Just one email to talk about the scenario and special events along with skin and map updates.  It would go a LONG way I bet you. Atleast maybe refresh the game in people's minds. If they can't handle an email than they arent adults.
