...that Hitech has secretly gathered a new team of disciples and is designing Aces High IV.

Honestly, announcing he's working on AH4 would be more beneficial than keeping it a secret.

Dx12 is taking over the gaming world. Even iracing is switching to dx12.
The problem is how many current players would be priced out due to low performing PC equipment if AH went to a better graphics engine.

Please put me on the board :old:

Too many most likely..
Graphics isn't the issue for me, it's 3 sided maps with 2 sided numbers of players...

And how many of them are going to have screen glitches? IMO, that is almost detrimental to AH for many.
Sure you can switch to Dx9, but most probably dont know to reach out or figure that out.

I'm running DX12 now and I don't have any issues. In the beginning I did have to go into my Nvidia control panel and tweek a few things. :salute

If you're Windows 11 you're DX 12.

On the flip-side how many could it fix?

My guess is the poly count would need to be increased just enough to allow better than what we have, not go full tilt. Then replace a few items to modernize it more, like explosions, maybe terrain tiles resolution, OR new terrain tiles. Going to a new 3d engine like UR may take several months, depending on many things.
Poly count is crucial in 3D game development as it directly impacts performance, framing rates, and rendering efficiency. Managing poly count ensures optimal resource utilization, balancing visual intricacies with smooth gameplay.
The engine we have now may be capable of turning poly up a notch. But as well all know,... you tweak it to the slowest so you do not lose too many players. Right now it will play on slower machines. But the slower machines then may have gotten better since the current count was established. I think we have some headroom to toy with.

I'm not sure about this as I play some games with some very good graphics but they also have settings where they could run on a 3470 with a RX 570. Obviously it kills the eye candy but it runs.
