I had only about an hour to fly, but found plenty of action in the nice big furball around A4 yesterday afternoon. In the future, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me kill you more tho'. Thanks!

<S> you SOB. And btw you can kill lazs all you want. He is the designated dragger for our squadron and if he ever appears to be above you, check your instruments because you are probably inverted. Of course if you do kill lazs, please follow protocol and fly straight for 30 seconds afterwards. A post-slaying gentle looping climb is also acceptable.

Lazs? I thought that was Drex! Yes, that's right, Drex...who I killed at A4 yesterday <mumbling>while he was banking slightly and target fixated. And that's not the first time I killed him either...I met him while he was flying a C47 several tours ago too (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Of course, that pales in comparison to the satisfaction I get whenever seeing the words "you have killed milenko"

Yep... All the new guys are really making for some fun fites. A lot of flabby "vets" were getting their ass's handed to em too. I sure wish we could keep up the action but it only takes about 1% of the player base, new or otherwise, to ruin a good furball. some attention starved idiot will allways de-roof a couple of buildings on a suicide run.
As of last night the action was allready slowing.... stupidfortresses laser bombing hangers..... Yawn.

Lazs...the hangers are deroofed in order for you guys to take off from a field farthre back and thus gaining the altitude advantage. You need the "handicap" when fighting SOB (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Also it's nice to take the furball higher up so that I don't auger into the drink like an aSSASSin........

skern... exactly. I think the key words in the post were "an hour to fly".... Many of us are in that boat. We tend to find that the silly, talentless, de-roofing makes us spend the majority of that time simply getting to the fight and, worse yet.... getting to it is no garentee that ther will even be anything that resembles a "fight" when you get there. someone might have deroofed the enemies hangers and so they can't come up to fight you or... you are so spred out that you meet a horde of enemies leaving you with the choice of gangbanging or being gangbanged.
With a little less gimicky strat we could have more opportunities for guys to have fun in their hour.

I think there are a ton of furballs on this map lately lazs. I found the last map more fun to play than this one, because there were more furballs as well as more field captures.
This map at times can be very stagnant and I agree that you can sometimes fly aimlessly around looking for a fight.
You keep saying you don't like the strat in AH....and you are entitled to your opinion. What I would like from you Lazs is your idea on how to make it BETTER...rather than the same complaint.

sling and skern... I have posted many suggestions (in many threads)for making it better with very simple changes like making fighters available longer and fields close easier. A simple search would have worked for ya.
sob... allways like to have company. Most just run away screaming like little girls when they look into the HQ tho. Usually turns their hair white and most find religion.

Maybe its just me, but how in the hell do you make fighters available longer while at the same time making fields easier to close? Seems like a contradiction to me.
This can be easily done now as it is....just kill the ack and leave the FH up. That way your fighters are still available as long as you want them. Is that what you want lazs? Since apparently you have missed the dozen previous times this has been said I will go over it again:
Make it so killing the FH does nothing to affect fighter availability. How easy it is to capture fields is a separate issue.
There is any number of ways to make fields fall quicker. Reducing the number of targets that have to be taken out, increasing target down time, etc...
My favorite is to add one or more alternate field capture methods. It is very common to see 20 guys milling over a disabled enemy field waiting futilely for friendly troops that never make it. If you could also capture the field by completely closing it and landing an ac on it (the old WB method), then it would give these 20 players something to do (i.e. complete the capture and move on to the next field).
The game is much more exciting when territory is being gained and lost and people have desirable alternatives to milling about a disabled field that contribute to its capture. The game can easily bog down and become boring when it is easy to disable fields but hard to capture them.

and as a bonus... while people were fighting nothing would prevent the real "strat" players from getting a whole squad or so together and vultching the snot out of some backwater undefended field.

Jeeze, whats all this noise Laz? Still thumpin the anti-strat war-drums??... My flying habits have radicly changed... and the sim remains fun as hell. Nowadays I'm limited to the odd hour here or there.. laundry time.. feed the cat; check the mail; fly a sortie, then head back out...
A couple of nights back I got an hour in.. got 5 kills; died once; bailed once, had a blast chattin on channel 1, met up with Rocket fer a little pony v pony yank and bank, flew a set with my squaddies and logged happy as a clam.
Laz, I submit the sim can be as much fun as the player wants it to be... without forcing anybody else to fly your (or anybody elses) agenda. Yah get out whatcha put in.

hang even I don't have trouble getting kills. even my mediocre skill level allows me to get kills. In fact, I get easier kills now with the fighter hanger de-roofing "strat" model. I have very little talent but I can usually kill that one poor con being chased by ten frindlies first. It is the quality of the fights that is so poor lately. Gangbang or get gangbanged is the result of the simplistic strat. It is less fun is all.
course I could allways just fly 51's and then it wouldn't matter but I have more fun in fighters.
I believe that wittingly or not, sob is talking about one of these rare (these days) times when a lot of people in pretty even numbers were fighting between two fields. This is the most fun for the majority but is easy to shut down with a couple of laser boms by a suicide jock. when that happens the field remais open and a virtual "no mans land" it effectively makes it useless for everyone. The time to the nearest field effectively doubles (or triples if numb nuts goes on to deroof a couple more outhouses).
If the field were at least captured... then the result would be more fighting between fields. soooo.... make fighters available longer at fields and make fields easier to close and capture at the same time. let's get things moving a little.

Ah.. so sorry, I lost track. Had no idea strat had changed regarding hangers and such.. and I'm particularly startled to discover that a P51 is not a fighter.
Oh well.. live and learn.

Note that a 51B does count as a fighter. I think it may be the color....
