Subj.
I do not understand why we shall chose type of mission before sortie.
Typical situation, I am up otw to some field to fight over it. Normal fighter sortie. When I over the field I see, that situation changed, fh's down, there are still some acks, which need to be strifed, vh softened, one osti up and friendly goon inbound.
What happens then? I strife acks, finish the vh, and kill ostie. What I get? My gunning percentage gets lower, because in a fighter sortie any hitting of building considered being a miss. I do not get kill. So, I helped to get the field for the country, risked, and it hirted my scores. Very strange.
I understand the reason, why that swich was added to the game. Without it counting scores could be difficult. I do not understand, why I shall chose type on mission on the ground. Why not to add the switch on the board or as a dot command to let me change type of mission DURING the sortie? Then, in the abovementioned situation I could simply switch it and start strifing the field. And my scores in this situation would be respesentation of my efforts and risk.

I'm not sure, but there also seems to be a bug with that selector. Pick attack, go bomb some things, and then RTB and .ef. Go back to the hangar and "fighter" will be selected. If you now fly and then check your scores for that sortie, you will find it still counts under the "attack" catagory. You have to manually press the fighter button again if you want it to count for fighter, even though it's already selected.

I totally agree Fariz.

I wonder if there is a "dot" command for choosing between fighter and attack. I use dot commands a lot for things such as fuel load and moving to another field.
I use the dot command for fuel because often the choice in the hanger doesn't "stick" on what I thought it was supposed to be.
I do like the idea of inflight choice though Fariz, good idea.

Well, either your sortie is a fighter sortie or a jagdbomber one. if in doubt, select attack, as a2a kills still gives you perk points
I like it - allows me to separate my F8 sorties from the rest. Good for stats

Would be nice if it stayed on attack until you switched it.

agree !
wonder how many times i flown attack missions and forgot too press the attack button. and if its like this u dont get awared the kill (if u get one)i shurely understand somthing about the score now then (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
guess there shoulda been a inflight option for changing it, alteast that woulda been very nice .

Simplest solution to this problem is not to look at the score page (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) Trust me, forget about score and you will enjoy yourself 10 times as much.

Yup. Imagine being over a base, it is prepped, M3 sitting right outside ack umbrella, you in fighter with plenty of ammo... what to do, what to do...
Blast that ack, even if you are in "fighter" mode! Forget the scores- I mean, after all what are you going to remember most, that you were 23rd in fighters once or the many times you helped people complete a task?

There is one more.
If you choose the attacker button on the selection row, you still have to switch the score button to attacker.
TMO it's a minor problem, but it would solve some of the complaints.
If you want to fly a attack sortie, take over the main selector row your wished AC and you get the score you want.
But frankly I think most people do not worry about it.

Ok, I wrote a long reply, then deleted. Tired to explain the simples thing -- everyone in this game has a freedom of playing the way they want. Only thing is "my freedom ends where other people freedom starts". End of message.
Now, some reasons. Kieren, how do you think, what will make more people willing to strife the acks when goon inbound -- your post or solution I proposed? Just think, you are in a goon, and a score-monger over field. And he turns away, because he is in a fighter mode. May be better to make him to want to strife acks? Believe me, it is easier than to change his personality.
I never thought that closing eyes on a problem is the best way of solving it.
