I saw it last night on the Discovery channel again - the one about bike builder Jesse James. I keep thinking about those bikes. And today in Florida it feels like springtime in Michigan... and the road is calling out to me again ;)
We don't need anymore old guys with pressed blue-jeans riding new Harleys out there on the roads... but.... I wonder what a used Harley might cost? And what do you look for when inspecting a used Harley?

"We don't need anymore old guys with pressed blue-jeans riding new Harleys out there on the roads..."
Spoken like a true wannabe. (finger)

Aww, c'mon Easymo, on't tell me you iron your blue-jeans? :p
-
Well, no. And ive never actually rode a harley, that i didnt build myself. But I really am old. Built my first bike in 1959.
-
Thats kinda what I figured. What do you recommend I look for - used - and more or less stock?
-
Pick up an old shovelhead. There cheap, and parts for them are cheap. They have a bad rep. But what most people dont stop to think about is they have been around so long that any problems have been solved. Also they are real harleys.
BTW. See no evo. Hear no evo. Speak no evo. That yuppie crap was designed by Yamaha engineers.
-
Will check that out. Btw, whats an evo?
Just found out, Easymo, the "evolution motor" - thanks
-
Evo refers to the new "Evolutional" engine head design from HD.
There have been Flatheads, Knuckleheads, Panheads, Shovelheads, and now the Evo.
Ride like you're invisable, and everyone's out to get you.

Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a basket case and spend some time fixing her up. They can't get me in my garage :)

I got an evo and love it. My friend Grouchy Fred has a shovel - he loves it.
Ride it like ya stole it
