Title: Super Goon?
Post by: muckmaw on January 14, 2002, 01:20:59 PM
I read a mention of "the super C-47" in another thread. The writer expressed this as being a problem in AH at this time.

Can someone explain what he meant by this?

From my experience, The C-47 seems to be made out of Cardboard, and hardly a durable aircraft.

Whats the deal?

Thanks in advance.

Nice bait  :)

What I meant was that while it can take several buffs/bombs to knock down a large airfield, one itty-bitty Goon (i.e. Super Goon) can reverse all of this with one airdrop.

Follow?

Bait? Not sure what this means either.

Anyway, I thought HTC fixed this by requiring 10 Goons to fully repair a field.

That's to re-up a city

Then I totally agree with you....it should take 10 goons to re-up the field, with city following suit.

Maybe 10 Goons for the field, 2-5 for the city?

Last night I shot down a goon with a zero....used up my entire ammo load on it....I was thinking that my cannons must have been missing and the hits I was seeing were all of my MG rounds.  I was really surprised at how long the damn thing stayed in the air....

Luckily I was right at our base and used the re-arm pads to get back into the fight...

I always thought the goons were weak...now I'm not so sure.

Maybe it should take as many goons to resupply a field as it takes bombers to destroy it. Would have to put some kind of supply/explosive value on supplies.

Or something....I don't know what the answer is.

For the Furball Folks, they love this.  See that big Lancaster coming?  Oh no!  All hangars are dead.  Quick, out from a telephone booth comes Super Goon!    (well, a s-l-o-w whoosh for the goon's performance! :)  )  Out goes the supplies and the field is all better now.  Fighters, GVs and everything else are all instantly repaired

...walka..walka..walka...   :D

Sorry, had to toss in some comic releif there!

But seriously, it needs fixing.  The buffs are pretty ineffective now.

Your cannon rounds must have been missing Curv.

I know from flying goons for a year now, once a guy gets hits cannons on you, your goon is history. Even MG rounds usually do the job.

I often wonder if the planes were really that fragile, or if they need to be toughened up to be historically accurate.

go flat turn one for fun....you can turn like a zero in those things.

they need all the help they can get though because they are still dead in the end :)

Hi All,
As stated in other threads I still think the answer to the "Super Goon" is to give the supply crate an ordinance rating like 3K (for example) and let it do 3K's worth of repair, so if it takes 20K to destroy the HQ it would take 7 goons to repair it (Or 1 to rerpair a hanger). That way the amount of effort needed to rebuild a target would be similar to the amount of work required to destroy it.

Some thought would be needed to decide what order things at a field were prioritised for repair (Unless you could choose during loadout).

I LIKE this ordinance rating idea. good thinking

As far as the super goon, i'm SICK of it, makes no sense one crate repairs even a large field.
