Title: Event driven interface changes
Post by: Seeker on January 15, 2002, 04:59:44 AM
Could we please have an some extra clipboard butons?

On the Strat page:

A button to pull up the welcome text message

On the Mission viewer page:

A button called "Brief" which squelches all but the mission channel for every one in the "room" .

A button called "orders" which pull up a user text message so flight leaders can distibute orders (as text messages) prior to frame which mission members can refer back to whilst logged on and in flight.

I'd like a button or some kind of control which allows me to control the size and clarity of the map, especially in flight.
The current map has sector numbers which are unreadable, and the field names and numbers are so jumbled as to appear like hieroglyphics.  I feel l ike this is a bit of a whine but, it is sure inconvenient trying to adjust my map inflight just to give a report to countrymen about a target area.

there is also a + and - symbol at the bottom right hand corner of your clipboard. those will make the clipboard larger and smaller

Geeb and PimpJoe:
I use the insert and del keys and the + and - functions too. I mean the map as it is is too garbled.  Surely the sector  numbers at least can be made to be a bit larger than they are. Right now it's like one of those eye charts at an opthamologists office "cover your left eye and read the very last line on the chart"

So, I have to increase the map size and move it to the middle of my screen to make out the sector numbers, field numbers (especially on the Mondinao map) plus fly my plane and talk on the radio. Hell, I'd rather just go get a beer. Hmmm, come to think of it, thats what I do now:confused:

One thing I find useful, in addition to zooming in, is holding down a shift key and the left mouse button will allow you to scroll around the map (by moving the mouse).

How about a "squad", or "buddies" button on the arena log in page that pings the arenas and tells you which arena your squad/buddies are logged on to?

I hate to bring this up, but it would be most helpful for Htc to take some of the good designs of AW (one of the few)  into their whole map interface.

Briefing rooms, where you can see quickly who is there and chat with them while you wait (this already exists, but is not as simple and intuitive).

This would also be great for towers, so you can privately chat with those upping from the same base without doing it across the text buffer for other channels.

These briefing rooms would greatly help missions.  Having your CO tell you exactly what is expected, and other good instructions, not being broadcast to the normal text buffer would be nice.  Makes it feel like you are actually in  a briefing, and builds a tighter more realistic mission.

Map is just funky.  Maybe just show important alt changes with it and get rid of the silly shadding and stuff.  While they are at it, get rid of the bar dar and do something more quantitative.
