Title: Oscilloscope Use in Stick Setup? How?

How is the oscilliscope used to help with joystick setup?  What does the red line mean?  What does the blue line mean?  What should be changed to achieve optimum stick performance?  My hits have been very erratic and think my stick may be part of the trouble but section in the AH help is lacking in detail on stick performance.  Any ideas where I can get info (articles) on stick setup?
