So what is it?
Ki-61-I 1175hp/348mph
Ki-61-Ia 2*20mm + 2*7,7mm or
Ki-61-1b 2*30mm + 2*7,7mm
Ki-61-II with 1450hp engine had 4 cannons in wings so ours can't be that one?
-
Hopefully it will have all the armament variations for the Ki-61-I. This means either 4 MG's or 2 MG's and choice of MG 151/20, Ho-5, or the 30 mm gun. I'm hoping for the Ho-5. Guys think the Hispano is strong, wait until they try this baby. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

One step closer to the KI-84. Thank you HTC.
-
hmm looks like I found "our" Kawasaki; http://perso.wanadoo.fr/christophe.arribat/stofki61.html (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/christophe.arribat/stofki61.html)
It's Ki-61-Ia of major Teruhiko Kobayashi with 1175hp engine, max speed 366 mph at 16,405 ft.
Armament is 2*MG151/20mm and 2*7,7mm mg or maybe 2*12,7 + 2*7,7mm.

Nice work Staga... but one question... Do you see any kill markings on that plane in the picture at all? I can't find 'em.
EDIT: Maybe our version isn't the one you think Staga... read a bit further down:
Because of maintenance problems, some aspects of the plane were modified. The resulting Ki.61-I-KAI-c (KAI = "modified") had a slightly longer fuselage, a fixed tailwheel, and strengthened wings for a better diving speed. Wing pylons could be fitted. The armament now included Japanese-built Ho-5 20 mm cannons. Production started in January 1944; with 1,274 planes built, it was the most numerous sub-version.
Screenshots show our Ki-61 as having wing pylons.

Um, to the best of my knowledge, Japanese pilots did not paint kill markings on their planes. Don't quote me though. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Real No.3295 Ki-61 had 5 B-29 kill marks on left fuselage.

OMIGOSH! THIS MEANS WE WILL GET THE B-29 SOON!! YES!! I HAVE READ LOTS OF BOOKS AND THE B-29 WAS A GREAT GROUND ATTACK PLANE TOO! WOW!! PYRO MUST BE SAYING THIS, RIGHT!?!
hehe, had to be the first to make a pointless leap-of-logic in this otherwise happy thread. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Seriously, I likes the WB Tony verra much, and look forward to AH's version.
-
By the way, Teruhiko Kobayashi lost this No. 3295 Ki-61-1c in Jan 21 1945,
because he did the air-to-air kamikaze attack to B-29 (though he bailed successfully).
Also its B-29 has been shot down by it.

LOL Kieren, I think B-29 is pretty low priority on release list. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
B-29 could carry 40 500lbs bombs or 20 1000lbs bombs in Mig Alley, actually could it carry these bombs in real life?

Mitsu-
hehe, actually, I don't know all that much about the B-29. I also hope it never gets modelled here. I know it had a phenomenal payload, but just what it could carry I can't say. I was really only making a joke about the way rumors get started in AH.
-
Ho-5 won't be a wonder gun in AH funked. It will be a Mauser firing 150rpm more. That's if it doesn't get "detuned" like they did to the RL guns because of poor quality metals. Besides that, I don't see any mention of the Ki-84 coming anytime soon. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
I don't even see the MG 151/20 barrels on that Ki-61... those 20mm had better be available in the hanger!
Edit: Upon further examination, it appears that the Ki-61 in those screenies is a Ki-61-I-Tei, aka Ki-61-I-KAIc(1274 built): with 2x20mm Ho-5 in the nose, and 2x12.7mm Ho-103 in the wings.

Wow, I can't get over just how good the art looks on that ki61. Who did it, Natedog or Superfly?
(Can someone go back and make the p51 look that pretty? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) )

Juzz,
You're a bit wrong.
Models and Types:
Ki-61-I Ko = Ki-61-Ia
Ki-61-I Otsu = Ki-61-Ib
Ki-61-I Hei = Ki-61-Ic
Ki-61-I Tei = Ki-61-Id
Ki-61-II (2 variants, Razorback and Bubblecanopy).

aka = also known as. Because I've seen the same model of Hien called either Ki-61-Id or Ki-61-I-KAIc, in different sources.
Apparently the AH paintscheme is for a Ki-61-Ic(one of the 388 fitted with imported MG 151/20 in the wings), but the 3d shape certainly appears to be that of the improved Ki-61-Id with the Ho-5 in the nose, and Ho-103 in the wings.
Frenchy: It should have that scheme, methinks - 12 B-29 kill markings(one rammed), and the tail characters apparently read "I win everytime". (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
-
Hopefully its the one with the HO-5.
I was really hoping for the Ki61-II, which would have fit the current planeset much better (and was better than the derivative Ki-100 that so many want), but I won't complain.
It is certainly one of the best looking planes yet.

The HO-5 if modeled correctly would be the hardest hitting 20mm cannon against aircraft in the game, the only thing that would be more dangerous may be the hispanno 20mm, this issue has been debated to death on previous postings.

I REALLY doubt that will be the case in AH. They will end up being only a little better than the MG 151/20.

Hehe Hispano is fun little cannon, I killed 5 Hogs in a one flight tonight.
Its a real kill'o'matic (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

POSTED BY PYRO IN NEWS:
We'll probably call it the Ki-61-I-KAIc to try and keep the confusion to a minimum. Whatever you wish to call it, it's a modified airframe from the initial version and is armed with 2 Ho-5 20mm cannons in the cowling and 2 12.7mm MG in the wings.
I was right!!!

If they model the Ho's right we have a new HO champion to be crowned. Those 50 cals they got hit hard as well (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
