Title: grrrr!!
Post by: Octavius on January 16, 2002, 07:08:43 PM
Sounds were giving me problems.  I couldn't seem to hear any MG or cannon rounds, no flaps, gear, bomb drops, doors, external sounds, nothing.  Only engine sounds and engine start/stop sounds played.  I made sure the volume was up (in windows as well as AH), the latest drivers were installed (for my SoundBlaster Live! Value card), the individual wav's played just fine outside of AH, and anything else i could think of.  Its either a physical problem, or an issue unknown to me.

Thinking there might have been something wrong with the installation, I uninstalled and reinstalled AH.  I tested the problem and no joy.. I am stumped!   On top of all this, my FPS dropped dramatically.  From 60+ down to 25-30 fps...  Perhaps its time to buy a new sound card.  My system specs:

ESC K7S5A motherboard
AMD Athlon 1.2g
128 MB PC-2100
Geforce3 Ti200
SoundBlaster Live!  Value
Windows XP

One more thing.. I believe the sounds were working fine with the other vid card installed.  A Riva TNT Graphics Blaster.. the ancient type :)  Help will be greatly appreciated!!  I can't enjoy AH  without sound!  :p

Oct out!

Try disabling acpi and run an older version of drivers for the g force...

Something must be porked on the SB Live! Value card.  An unknown driver issue or some conflict with win XP..

Anyway, I forgot my K7S5A board has an integrated Avance AC97 audio card.  I enabled that in the bios and everything works fine.  AH sounds are beautiful.  And thanks Aurelius, I reverted to the original drivers included with the new GF3 Ti200 and everything is great.  But one more thing, the text in the game is kind of dithered..or fuzzy.. its strange, I'll try to post a screen shot later on.  Thanks!

FYI, I went back to the default drivers with SB Live because the newer ones (this was in June) hosed everything up my my 'puter.
