Title: Any model enthusiasts?

I do a little airplane modeling in my spare time. (the box sets)
I'm working on a B-25J 1:48 scale right now from Revell, but it's turning extremely tail heavy. I haven't finished the nose section yet, but there is no way that it is going to be close to enuf to offset the tail.   Any ideas?

As in you think it will tip over backwards on its gear?

Just put a brick on top of it. :)

Or glue washers/pennies/nails/lead foil, something heavy, in the forward engine cowlings, or some other inconspicuous cavity where it won't be seen.

Haven't built one of these for a long time but IIRC there is some open space in the fuselage behind the bombardier and below the cockpit.  Glue some fishing weights or some clay in there.

i just finished a dora-9.

it was an italieri model so it needed about a half pint of filler.

also did a hasegaw bf109 g-14 recently which had a lot of nice options. fully configurable flaps slats etc. they are still my personal favorite.

i have a k-4 waiting in the wings but i have to wait til the patience hits me, i dont want to rush that'n. :)

i have a 190f8 that im workin on right now:)  and a p61 as well. i also have a pony, p38, and a p40 thats just waitin to be assembled:)

I have an La-7 1:72 made in Chekoslovakia in 1975. Still in the box with all the CCCP stamps and stuff on the instruction sheet (that I can't read). Don't think I'll ever build it.

On my B-25 I left the aft entry door open, and glued the little steps to it while I had the plane propped in position to keep the nose gear on the ground. That was my solution, gl. :)

The directions for one of my planes (1:72 P-38 Lightning) specifically call fore putting some weight into the nose cone.

dude go to any local tire sale/repair shop

just get them to give you a hand full of the used 1/4 ounce tire balancing weights

they are free (they cant generally be re-used) and they will just throw them out anyway.

cheaper than going and buying fishing weights.

toss them in the front in some out of sight place.  bingo..level b25

Unrelated to a point, but Im building a Estes SaturnV model rocket. I figured Level4 Expert was a good place to start.

What a hideous mess of plastic and tube parts I have made. I wonder if 10 coats of very thick paint will hide all the awfulness?

(Course that might weigh the beast down so it just sits on the pad, burning the toejam out of everything, and deploying the chutes on the launch rod. )

The ceiling in my bedroom is covered in 1/48 scale models ranging from the wright brothers flyer to the F-117. My closet is full of more waiting to be built. I have a 1/48 B-1 Bomber that needs to be painted and decaled. It is by far the largest of the group, though my 1/72 scale XB-70 is pretty big as well as the 1/48 SR-71, B-17, and PBY. I love the difference in size between a Fokker DR.I and an F-15 Eagle.

I had this same problem with a model I was building one time as a kid, so I threw a few fishing weights in the nose cone and to hold 'em in I filled the thing full of the same model glue I used to assemble the jet.

Turns out that wasn't such a hot idea, as the glue just kind of melted the nose cone and made it all limp and useless.  Kind of like DejaVu.
