I am constantly getting the "switching to TCP" message in CT. This needs to be fixed. I am not running a firewall and don't get this message when going into the MA.
Current connection to CT sucks.

Same problem as this Sanch guy :)
Good excuse for dying a lot though :D

Same here.
Oddly enough, TCP seems to make the 202's guns WORK. Ive shot down yaks with a toejamload less of bullets than I usually need in the MA.
I just wish there was a way to make my MA connect be TCP *G*

Tac, just set up a firewall to block UDP packets on ports 2000-3000. ;)
Personally, I think it looks like planes are caught in a strobe light under TCP. Planes move in rapid stutter step fashion which makes it hard for me to shoot them--especially in a Yak 9T which doesn't have a whole lot of room for shooting error. Maybe I could get used to it if I played enough, but I just don't want to put up with this degraded connection.

sancho i get the same the thing a "strobe" or flashing effect totally frustrating so I dont play in the ct.

What???
The switch to TCP is bad? I have always had that message even at MA. I sthere a way to fix something so that UPD is used? (I dont have a firewall.)
The connection has been ok at MA earlier.. nowadays the mass of players there makes it worse though. CT has been ok though.

Could you do this with "Zone Alarm" sancho?

Daddog, ZA on or off doesn't change a thing, It's not on our end (I think) in this case.
Blauk, what connection are you on ? Are you routing cable/dsl using a software proxy ?

Yes, I have a cable (TV cable) connection and the settings given to me include some proxy settings... I think. I have to check when back at home. (For net browser I have set "direct connection to internet" and no proxies. It works ok.)
Can they be altered some way?
I think I had the same (switching to TCP) already earlier when I was still using 56k modem connection... without any proxies.. I think.
Any suggestions?
